grocery shopping is all about value of time vs money. if you got time you can search for and find best deals by shopping around. if not, stick to one store and pay the piper

This is pretty much it.

I have a pretty set list of items that I try to buy at Wal Mart Grocery once a month. I go to Rouses for things like meat and fresh produce, a few select items and whatever else they might have on sale. I pretty much watch Winn Dixie when a sale
item catches my eye.

One of the first “oh shite, I sound like my parents” moments was when my wife and I had a spirited discussion on the detriments and attributes of our favorite grocery stores.

At the time it was Giant Eagle Market District in the north hills of Pittsburgh. We also liked DeLallo’s Italian market out towards Greensburg. But now it’s probably Whole Foods, Alexander’s, or the newer Rouses now that we are in Baton Rouge. But the best grocery store is one that is convenient to you.

Rouses is a shitty heb. When I was back in Nola and had tkgk t on the grocery store I was shocked at how expensive it was and terrible. So ghetto.

It's nice having high school and college checkout kids vs people with prison tats

Rouses isn't that good. It carries around a Nola ghetto feel everywhere it goes

Maybe that's the Rouses in your area? Since it was started in and based in Houma, does that mean Houma is a NOLA ghetto?

Asking for a friend who is from Houma.

this is funny because me and the wife have been tossing around the idea of moving back home (CenLa) and one of my wife’s biggest gripes is that we wouldn’t have Whole Foods.

And people can gripe about WF and its pricing, but I gladly pay the surcharge to have a nice shopping experience. I go to Sam’s once a month and loathe every second I’m in that place.

Your cenla Walmarts are cleaner and more well stocked than Lake Charles Walmarts.
I still think the store management in each store make the biggest difference from store to store.

Don’t ever buy meat at Walmart, sealed package with carbon monoxide pumped in to keep it nice and pink.

Meat at Mac’s is pretty good.

The Kroger/Albertson’s combo in ellick isn’t bad. The kroger card usually comes in clutch. Albertsons has a good alcohol selection and seafood department

HEB is the GOAT.

HEB is meh.

They are "nice" but there's also like 700 people in every HEB near me. Gigantic parking lot 80% or more full pretty much all hours they are open.

You mean a packed grocery store with people just mindlessly walking around buying random shite? I dont think anyone besides 5% of the people in there have a grocery list.

There is nothing pleasant about shopping at the BR location

Their meat selections never look that good imo.

I shop at Rouse's all of the time, but I won't buy meat there. Anything from a cow, specifically, looks suspect.
