Chip Kelly. What happened to him?
Posted by bkhrph on 11/25/25 at 11:52 am
How would he do in the SEC now that he’s out of a job?
I had a cold hardy one (but can’t remember the name) that froze in the hard freeze of 2024, when it got down to the low teens. It didn’t come back.
I thought about trying it again, but read somewhere that the avocados the cold hardy ones produce are not good compared to the standard (Haas) ones.
Can anyone confirm this?

So Alex Atkins was o-line coach when kenny d. was the OC at FSU in 2020 & 2021.
Why do we need Kenny?

I lived about 20 miles from Norman in OKC area for about 5 years back in the 90’s. Never went to a ballgame, though.
Clean and well kept.
Cold fronts can bring the temps from pleasant 70’s to bitterly cold 30’s much quicker than on the gulf coast, and the wind is what makes it so bitter. So you might as well bring layers of clothing and a cap or hat, bc it’s cold more often than not.
I loved the area, though, and if I ever went back to live in OKC area, Norman would be toward the top of my list.

I believe we should take a look at Collin Klein or Glenn Schumann for head coach position.
I may be wrong, but I believe they would make good head coaches.
For those pulling for Frank, pay these 2 enough to lure them away, (which ain’t gonna happen), and let Jeff Landry do Frank’s contract.
I’m being facetious, bc I don’t think it would ever have a chance of happening.

Their speed between snaps doesn’t allow the defense to adjust.
I’d be curious if his offense was anything more than that.

LSU’s new run game coordinator?

Download Pl@ntnet app. Its free. Follow instructions. It will identify your grass (also for free). It’s as simple as snapping a picture with your phone.
re: Anyone have a “fix” for insomnia?
Posted by bkhrph on 10/30/25 at 2:04 pm to BluegrassCardinal
I identify with you.
If you have sleep apnea and not using a CPAP machine while you’re sleeping, you’re wasting your time with drug therapy. In fact, any drug that causes CNS depression, which is a mechanism of action AND a side effect of OTC and RX remedies, will have the potential of making sleep apnea worse, even while it’s helping you stay asleep. You may have gotten more sleep, but less “quality sleep”, and a hangover effect to top it off (which could be the biggest hazard of if you’re driving the next day). “Stay-asleep” type drugs have more of a “drugged” feel the next day because they don’t just conveniently leave the body when it’s time to get your day started.
One CBT info that has been shared from a counselor and has been helpful to me recently is that if you can’t go back to sleep after, say, 15-20 minutes, then get up and don’t go back to bed until you get sleepy again. It’s kinda like hitting a reset button, and it has worked for me.
If you keep lying there trying to fall back to sleep and you can’t, then it will start causing those “oh crap” moments as you call them, and every time you feel it coming on in future sleep failures. It’s a form of anxiety from the negative conditioning of those past experiences, which just makes the whole event even worse.
I’m a pharmacist, and in my reading, the only drug that a prescriber might consider for your dilemma if none of the above work would be Zaleplon (Sonata is the brand). It has an ultra-short half life of only 1 hour, which means it helps falling asleep and “should” not be a hazard 4 hours later. I would guess that many prescribers would have some reluctance to prescribe it like this. Maybe a sleep disorder specialist can shed more light for you.

That dirty hit on Joe Burrow when he was UCF coach in the fiesta bowl game on 1/1/2019 left a bad impression about him that lingers to this day.
He’d be a better fit back at his alma mater when sooner fans finally have enough of Venables.

re: Best time of year to lay Bermuda sod

How much less nitrogen? Can you use a rotary mower? I’ve read it can take more shade than other bermudas; do you have any in shaded areas that’s doing well?
Thanks
Thanks
One other source for bermuda plugs thru the internet is Sod Solutions. They probably have the most selections available.
I’m sorry about that. My bad. I knew that but it came out totally wrong.
Thanks

re: Where to buy Bermuda sprigs or plugs in Lafayette?
Posted by bkhrph on 9/5/25 at 8:55 pm to PillageUrVillage
I looked on Grass and Rock Shoppe website and see that they only sell st. aug by the piece. Bermuda is by the pallet special order. That’s pretty typical of nurseries.
There’s many places online that sell and ship bermuda plug trays such as:
Todd Valley Farms
Ncgrassplugs.com
OutsidePride.com
Amazon
Trysodpods.com
To name a few. Just google bermuda grass plugs

If in Harlan County KY, then most likely it’s some cool season grass, which will not creep and fill in, at least in the way our warm season grasses do. In the heat of summer, these grasses look as bad or worse than our warm season grasses look in the winter.
If they started out using a cheap big-box store blend, it’s no surprise it looks like this.
It’s in its dormancy at this time of year, and turf diseases love heat and humidity. Even the best varieties are affected, but probably not to this extent.
If you’re committed to cool season turf, you’re gonna have to overseed most years. Certain bluegrasses will spread quicker than others, but not like our bermudagrasses or St. Augustines.
So it’s not the fault of his lawn services. He needs to overseed this month using cultivars recommended by UKY/county ag agent and be prepared to do it yearly.

Do you by chance know what variety you have? Where are you located?
Bahiagrass. Thick and short rhizome.
Do they not have a scan & go like Sam’s? They’re living in the dark ages nowadays.
Scan and go can be used for gasoline at Sam’s as well . I see few that use this. It makes it SO much easier.
