LSU went from having a lead to down 20 in nearly 5 minutes. Impressive.

The team is improved over last year. Hung with the best team in the SEC for 32 minutes. Will finish with 7 or 8 SEC wins in the regular season.

This isn’t the goal. I’m not the only person here optimistic about how next year’s roster is shaping up. If we flop next year I may do a full turn on McMahon, but while it might be hard to see now — there is reason to be excited for 2025.

That’s all fair enough. I will acknowledge that this year has been better than last but I feel we have a better roster this year too.

I do think year 3 of the McMahon era will be the true measuring stick. Hopefully the recruits pan out and we can be solidly in bracketology projections throughout the year.

We all want the same thing.

Please advise on how the last 8 minutes went. Basketball games are 40 minutes if I remember correctly

Refs took over after they realized Bama couldn’t beat us without them.

You are almost certainly correct that, one way or another, the fan base will not be as fractured this time next year.

2 years is a reasonable expectation for CBB turnaround, in this era. Giving McMahon +1 due to circumstance is fair. 2025 should not have any glaring roster holes — McMahon will either sink or swim.

Does anyone on the coaching staff teach defense, especially defending the 3 point shot? Pretty pathetic defense!

Unfortunately the game of basketball has devolved in to nothing more than a 3 point shooting contest. The Tigers would have won today had that not been the case. The game as it is played today is not how it was intended to be played. Working the ball in to the basket for a shot. The 3 point shot should be eliminated. If not, the 3 point line should be moved back 7 feet to increase the risk in taking that shot.
And yes, I would feel the same way if we were making all those 3's

Indeed. The same is true for dribbling.

Here are the original rules of basketball. Do you think we go back to using peach baskets?

quote:

THE FIRST 13 RULES

1. The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.

2. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands (never with the fist).

3. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it, allowance to be made for a man who catches the ball when running at a good speed.

4. The ball must be held in or between the hands, the arms or body not be used for holding it.

5. No shouldering, holding, pushing, tripping, or striking, in any way the person of an opponent shall be allowed, the first infringement of this rule by any person shall count as a foul, the second shall disqualify him until the next goal is made, or, if there was evident intent to injure the person for the whole of the game, no substitute allowed.

6. A foul is striking at the ball with the fist, violation of rules 3, 4 and such as described in rule 5.

7. If either side makes three consecutive fouls, it shall count a goal for the opponents. (Consecutive means without the opponents in the meantime making a foul).

8. A goal shall be made when the ball is thrown or batted from the grounds into the basket and stays there, providing those defending the goal do not touch or disturb the goal. If the ball rests on the edge and the opponent moves the basket, it shall count as a goal.

9. When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field and played by the person first touching it. In case of a dispute, the umpire shall throw it straight into the field. The thrower-in it is allowed five seconds. If he holds it longer it shall go to the opponent. If any side persists in delaying the game, the umpire shall call a foul on them.

10. The umpire shall be judge of the men and shall note the fouls and notify the referee when three consecutive fouls have been made. He shall have power to disqualify men according to Rule 5.

11. The referee shall be judge of the ball and shall decide when the ball is in play, in bounds, to which side it belongs, and shall keep the time. He shall decide when a goal has been made, and keep account of the goals, with any other duties that are usually performed by a referee.

12. The time shall be two fifteen minute halves, with five minutes rest between.

13. The side making the most goals in that time shall be declared the winners. In case of a draw, the game may, by agreement of the captains, be continued until another goal is made

LSU struggles vs Bama. Alabama's pace is a frightful experience for this LSU team in second halfs; it started back in the great Wade years, with team members like Xavier Pinson, Efton Reid, Alex Fudge, Darius Days et al and it just continues.

LSU has lost 9 of 10 games to Bama. The next three games-- @ Florida, @ S. Carolina, Kentucky-- don't bode well for success. Tigers will probably lose 8 of 9 games before playing one that they can be competitive in.

Losing 8 of 9 is realistic. However, they should be competitive in a couple of those games.

They will lose 3 more straight, and win the last 5.

Right, which would make 8 of 9

Well that’s all we can really dream of as LSU fans, didn’t it. Let’s just hope to make our opponents sweat a little bit before they put us away. Wow, Good game, good effort!

I love how a steady rebuild really annoys people like you who would polish the former guy's balls if you got the chance.
