Me: Putin was only telling part of the whole history, why are we acting like it was a grand revelation of facts no one knew?

Ah, so he should have explained the entire history of Russia? Wow, that would take some time.
He was revealing facts that Tucker didn't know and that 99.9% of Americans don't know.

Wanta try again?

Putin is a high-IQ, confident KGB agent with full control of an massive region. He rules with an iron fist and absolution.

I'm not sure why people refuse to give him credit and respect, or mistake credit and respect for admiration. He's articulate, educated and ruthless. He is most certainly no friend of the USA, but the exact same can be said about the current fraudulently installed White House occupant and his administration

Today, I view anything DC or MSM says very critically which continues to expose how corrupt this federal government is.

I exist here. We're not in Russia, we're not in Ukraine. Most of us will never go to either of those places and gain a first hand understanding. So we're told what happens and we take someone else's word for it. From that perspective, it's not hard to see how easily we can be manipulated. How easily we can be lead to sympathy and financial support for Ukraine. Or under the idea of patriotism support an invasion of Iraq. I exist as a cynic and a skeptic because I'm hesitant to react how I'm told by politicians and media.

I don’t think posters around here understand how silly it makes them look as they post about how well Putin explained the history of this part of the world.

How well did he explain it?
Did you fact check him?

The point observed here is Putin discussed details, dates, people, places, events, consequences, etc. in a way many of our respective US favored politicians couldn't. That does not speak to right or wrong, lies or veracity. It simply reflects acuity. As do his matter-of-fact observations about the US and even Tucker.

I have no doubt he's highly intelligent and very shrewd. He doesn't go from being some low level bureaucrat in St Petersburg to being the forever president of Russia.

Murderous dictator? Yes.

Where is the information to substantiate this? It gets thrown around a lot, but what are the numbers we are looking at? People talk about Hillary and there's a long list of names connected to her that have suspicious deaths. Where is the analog for Putin?

John Sweeney's a British journalist who's been covering Putin since the beginning of his Presidency. Sampling his book is a good place to start.

No worries.
People who like to taste Zelenskyy tend to down vote.

On the OT, the same folks brag about familiarity with his taste.

I'm surprised he didn't speak english for the interview. Surely he is fluent in it?

He is, although his English is heavily accented. Putin Speaking English

He fully understands English and has been known to correct his translators. I think using the translators gives him an advantage as he can fully understand the questions posed to him in English, but he has additional time to formulate his answer as he waits for the translation.

He occasionally switched into English in his interviews with Oliver Stone. That was much more of a documentary than Tucker's interview but for those interested, check out The Putin Interviews from 2017. His speaking style and mannerisms were the same.

I'm sure if anything he said concerning Eastern European history was wrong there would be plenty of twitter posts he can link.

A lot of people downvote reality.

As it doesn't match the made up reality they have constructed in their own world.

You don't have to have a political leaning, to appreciate the contrast between Putin and Biden.

Who brought up Biden?

I did

It's a natural comparison, the presidents of the US and Russia. If you're old enough to remember the Soviet Union, it's an even more prominent comparison, as those were the 2 acknowledged superpowers.

And interestingly enough, both men had "speaking events" available to view yesterday.

Biden- about 12 minutes of a statement and some Q&A, in response to the Special Counsel's findings. It was objectively disturbing as an American citizen; he rambled a bit. He got legit angry and combative with the Asian reporter- it wasn't like the Trump back-and-forth snarking. He yelled "that's your opinion! That's your opinion! That's not the press", which sounded bad, and then when you analyze it was confusing. She IS press. And she was specifically referring to what the Special Counsel put in his finding, which kinda was the purpose of the announcement.
Then, he fades on so many sentences, often repeating words or putting in some variation of "you know". You just could tell he was fishing around to finish his thought.
And then of course the Mexican president statement as referring to the Middle East. You take that with the earlier Mitterand and Kohl remarks, and he's developing a pattern of losing track of time, of the here and now. He's disoriented at least part of the time.

You contrast that with the Putin interview, and if nothing else, you can see Putin is still in full control of his faculties.

Well, for example, Putin flat out lied about the reason for Russian withdrawal from the Kyiv surrounds. He implied the withdrawal was in response to negotiations. The withdrawal sparked negotiations after the Russians got their butts kicked, but the Russian retreat was a repulsed attack not a negotiated withdrawal.

Putin jails or kills naysayers and political opponents. I'd take anything he said with a huge grain of salt.
