There's no way Shreveport isn't on this list. You can get a mansion on 2 acres in the best part of city for like $700k.

accurate. Shits dirt cheap here

I'm looking at that area right now. It does seem to offer a pretty good COL considering how big the city is (didn't realize Wichita was 300k+).

It's the northern one... it's used interchangeably between Northern/Western (in contrast with the Eastern)

Housing costs in Jackson, Miss., are significantly lower than the national average.
I wouldn't live there if they paid me to

Yes it’s surprisingly big. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not some sort of cultural Mecca or anything but I like it here a lot. Enough to do to keep me happy and mostly quiet. There’s shite areas of town and the city has its problems but they’re easy to avoid.

The median home sale price in March 2023 was only $120,000, and the median monthly rent was $1,065

You don’t want to live in the areas in Jackson where this is the value of homes or average rent

Sioux City coming in tenth means they are strictly looking at prices only. Nothing factoring in quality of life.

Are the folks in the western panhandle of WV as friendly/country as southern WV…really impressed with folks down that way.

Any suggestions where to/not to live? Looks there are dozens upon dozens of cute bungelow houses for cheap in the city.

Apparently they aren’t taking the invisible costs of crime into account on Jackson and Alec.

stay away from anywhere south of Kellogg (highway 54/400), area between I-135 and Woodlawn north of Kellogg (there’s good pockets here but most of it is rough. The closer to 135 you are the worse it is). The area immediately near downtown isn’t phenomenal but it’s not awful either. Just have to watch out for homeless that leak out from downtown. They like to steal shite.

Even in those areas there’s nice pockets, especially south of Kellogg, but it’s easier to just say avoid all of it than trying to describe specific areas.

I’ve lived out west (west of 235) most of time here and have been happy.

I'm sure Wichita is an OK place to live, but I fricking hate driving up through Wichita en route to Colorado. I dislike it so much that I go through Amarillo now.

The bridges and interchanges are strange and the road sucks through there for some reason.

Alexandria is an absolute cesspit. Of course it’s going to be super affordable.
