McGlothern?
Yep, another one he recruited and coached for two years, who BK dismissed (but brings in Denver Harris??), and will be drafted this next NFL draft.

McGlothern kept showing up late to shite. Kelly had to purge the culture when he got here to set the tone.
And it's Denver Harris, who Kelly then forced off the team when he didn't straighten up.

Corey coached and recruited McGlothern, right?

I won’t call the man lazy but my main strikes on CR are these:
1. Annual extortion for a raise.
2. Fundamentals less important than natural talent (can he teach zone?)
3. Bridesmaids too many times on Signing Day Eve- Tony Brown, Surtain come to mind.
Before getting blown up, Tony Brown was serviceable for the Evil Empire and has had an NFL career.
1. Having tested the water in Gainesville (still love the Josh Pate “looks like he is a hostage in blue & orange” the first part is probably resolved.
2. Can he teach?
3. Will he seal the deal?
ETA: after the Florida experiment I don’t see him threatening to leave.

Corrected.
The thing is here is that Denver Harris was a massive problem at A&M and he brought him in thinking he could correct his issues.
Why not suspend McGlothern for a bit until he got his shite straight vs running off our best returning CB?

Different times in the program. Kelly had to set the tone early. Once the culture was in place, he could take some risks with Denver.
Early on, he had to purge.

Head Coach and position coach are two very different things.
It's not like Raymond took a job in Montana and only had access to trace amounts of talent. He was in Florida and still was unable to land top recruits in a talent rich environment with the only SEC school in the state.

Say what you will about all that crap, and I didn't agree with it at all...
But the players did. O not being down with it was a massive, massive issue that created a huge rift.

He recruited the DB position very well last year. This year the program was in a death spiral and he was let go.

quote:are you really going to compare position coaches/coordinators records as HC compared to position who are coaching said position that they’e supposed to be specialty off? You and me both know Dennis Allen is a terrible HC but in a perfect world would still love him to coach the defense under a new HC.

3 of UF's top 9 recruits including their highest ranked player in the 2023 class were CBs. And as stated by other posters the 24' had top DB recruits committed that left the class when UF's season fell apart. That was more on Napier and Armstrong who was a terrible DC.

He also lost Nathaniel Wiggins and a couple others.
That is how they ended up with damarius mcghee that yr. He transferred.
If baker signs off on Corey raymond that is good enough for me. He worked with him so he would know.
I think I along with others bought into this narrative against Corey raymond.

Why do we only talk about CR?
Are there others from that group of coaches that are being talked about coming back or is Raymond the only one??

We haven’t gotten top DB talent in a while. Stingley was the last big one probably that didn’t transfer. Recruit talent and you don’t need the best coach. It’s a position of need by far.

Coaches don't forget how to coach or recruit. They generally just get lazy or entitled.
I think that's what happened to Corey. Hopefully he has had his ego checked and he's ready to get back to work.

Pass defense was bad at Florida and he could not land top Florida recruit.
Maybe this is partly contributed to Sunbelt Billy and “his” program?

Two names Les Miles, & Dave Aranda. When he had to shine on his own….. it flat out didn’t happen. If we are stuck with him I hope he will be a better coach this time. I don’t have high expectations.
Hopefully, we choose better.
