Guys drafted from our Secondary from 2017 til recently who Corey recruited and coached. Most are in the NFL still:

Jamaal Adams
Tre' White
Donte Jackson
Greedy Williams
Grant Delpit
Kristian Fulton
Jacoby Stevens
Kary Vincent
Derrick Stingley
Cordale Flott
Jay Ward

..didn't include JBC because he transferred in after Raymond left or Dwight McGlothern (transfer to Arkansas), Kelvin Joseph (transfer to UK) and Eli Ricks (who would have been a top 2RD pick if he had stayed).

Recruiting fell off a cliff for the entire team when Orgeron went on a perpetual bender, both personally and professionally, after the 2019 National Championship.

Pass defense was bad at Florida and he could not land top Florida recruit. Players did not develop as they did at LSU.

Aside from recruiting, we need someone who can work on fundamentals and develop our DBs. The last 2 seasons have been embarrassing to watch for a group that prides themselves on being “DBU”. I’m just not sure that Raymond is that guy. I would love to be wrong but I do not think Raymond is the answer when we are looking to rebuild an entire defense.

LSU's secondary turned poor not because of lack of talent that Raymond recruited, but due to attrition. Not sure how that narrative developed into he was lazy.

I agree. I really don’t understand the people that hate on Raymond. I can understand wanting to try some fresh blood out but the guy had the best stretch of any secondary coach in the country.

Because he was constantly looking for a new contract.

I don’t know why he’s getting all the blame when the entire coaching staff checked out after the championship.

No one ever wants to talk about all the other position groups that struggled mightily with attrition towards the end of O’s tenure. We had 39 scholarship players when he left. A lot of position groups sucked. Why do we only talk about CR?

We'll recruit just fine. Baker is a great recruiter as well (and obviously Frank) and Kelly will guide that ship in the right direction as far as "types" of kids with intangibles he prefers.

I just hope Corey will stop threatening to leave every year for a raise and I hope there is a fire in his belly to revamp our DB room developmentally. He's got some work to do because our kids were bad at tackling, finding the ball in the air, and sticking to assignments.

I think the constantly demanding more money or threatening to leave for greener pastures didn't sit well, at least with me. Hopefully, he comes back recognizing what LSU brings to the table and that perhaps the grass isn't always greener on other side of fence. If so, no doubt, to OP post, he can recruit and develop talent, if he is inclined.

Say what you will about all that crap, and I didn't agree with it at all...

But the players did. O not being down with it was a massive, massive issue that created a huge rift.

I think frank has a big part with getting him back. I don’t think Corey will make frank look bad

Ding ding ding.

People forget that HS prospects are recruited for 2-3 years. You have to go back to O’s tenure after the NC to see what the problem with personnel has been. We’re only just now seeing the fruits of Kelly’s labor in the 2025 class.

I think it would be a solid hire to bring him back. And to bring in Baker and him ,who have been previous coaches here, that is a plus to BK. He will have to spend far less time teaching them the ropes, they will just be able to jump right in and get to work.
