Are there any acceptable excuses to abandon a team?

I'm stuck in a loveless NBA marriage to the Orlando Magic. It's abusive at this point. I have been trying to divorce these goobers for 20 years. I can't quit them though. I'm borderline hate watching at this point.

The Saints I have found frustrating and intolerable. I think the management is terrible and owner is MIA. I might have an out with this Catholic Church pedo cover up support.

I don't even know how to start this process. I feel stuck with these goober organizations.

Thoughts? And yes, I know it's not that serious.

Start sports betting.

You can hate and love everyone all at once and call them all cock suckers and your best friends and life savers and assholes and useless , etc.

Yeah, AmWay is a MLM sham and the entire team is funded on pseudo-fraud.

Not to mention Dwight Howard sucks dudes’ dicks.

You’ve got an easy out if you want it. If you don’t then you’ve made the same decision Dwight did.

I’m a Syracuse football fan. It’s been about 25 years of incompetence with an occasional season of mediocrity.

Lifelong Louisiana resident here who was a Saints fan for over 40 years and have weeded them out steadily over the last few years to the point where I almost root against them.

It honestly hasn't been difficult. It probably started when a lot of his teammates sold Drew Brees down the river over that innocuous comment he made when the whole world was trying to go woke.

There are just a lot of unlikable assholes on the team that I just can't bring myself to root for just because they wear black and gold. Michael Thomas is certainly at the top of the list. And the organization as a whole I think is slowly headed down the shitter. So this seemed like a great time to hop off the bandwagon.

And I've grown to loathe the city of New Orleans itself and a lot of the people that live there. Last time I went to a game a couple years ago, the fans were trashy as hell.

Pretty easy

Just do something else instead of watching the games. Like anything else really.

If your team is poorly run you have no obligation to invest your time or money. After all, when you are laying on your deathbed you just won't regret missing the 2025 first round elimination game against the Hawks.

The NBA is the most rigged and WWE like of the 5 professional sports leagues in US/Canada.

Just walk away.

I love football so much that my Saints diehardness has faded a great deal.

They will always be my favourite team, but it's also kinda fun when they lose to see everybody get so upset. RedZone is so great that I rarely watch only the Saints now, they're on my laptop with redzone on big screen and maybe my survivor game or biggest wager game on my phone.

Then I became a huge Brady fan (and now Burrow and Rodgers) so that shakes things up. It's also fun to have backup teams like the Bengals and Broncos and Seahawks and gambling and big money survivor contests muddied the water even more.

TLDR; you don't have to "abandon" your team, just enjoy other teams and storylines and that lessens the frustration of your team.

It’s easy once you realize professional sports all suck arse. Being an LSU fan only makes things easy.

Try being a UK football and Cincinnati Bengals fan in the 90s. You get no pity from me.

Yeah, when your team drafts a “generational talent” and supposedly elite human and all he does for 5 years is A) get injured, B) be out of shape and C) have poor character on and off the floor.

It’s definitely an excusable reason to abandon a team. I’m not speaking from personal experience or anything like that. This is purely hypothetical.

yes

if you were a fan of st.louis rams, orlando magic, chicago bhawks under wirtz, etc, you had every right to drop ur team. many of those teams were losing on purpose because of ownership.

If ownership is the whole issue, u can bolt, and come back if they sell
