Just finished next chapter of 'Race Trumps Merit' by Heather McDonald. It's on racist orchestras playing only white music.
A lot of the largest symphony orchestras who play in America's big cities have apologized for past decades of playing just the stuff written by white composers. They promise to do better in achieving equality.

I'm not surprised by that. What's hysterical is the proof that classical music buffs are racist. I put it in the category of 'You can't make this stuff up.'

The proof is that white composers are referred to only by their last name...Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, etc. Black composers are listed by their first and last names, indicating that they don't reach the higher class of whites.

It’s definitely a deterrent to a certain kind of person. Some shop owners play it loud outside to annoy the homeless into leaving.

7 eleven owner blasts classical outside

Everyone knows who Beethoven, Mozart, etc. is. No one outside of hardcore fans knows Florence Price. And on that note, there's a reason we know certain composers. I'd say Mahler and Strauss are underappreciated before the obscure black composers: everyone should know who those two are, but common knowledge doesn't extend beyond four or five

No doubt Vivaldi was a grand wizard in the klan.

Popular music is more simplistic, beat-based music.

Classical music is much more complex and based on melody.

Make of it what you will.

Wait, I was told that Beethoven and Mozart were really black. I can't keep up anymore.

Isn't classical music culturally white?

Black people should be barred from participating, that's cultural appropriation! (Their rules, not mine.)

There is a significant appreciation for classical music among Asian cultures. Probably c-rap as well.

Are blacks not allowed to participate at piano recitals?

Whoever wasted time, ink, paper and bandwidth on that 'book' should eat dirt in shame.

This is the biggest pile of shite I have seen in a long, long time.

They are referred to in different ways by different people. I've heard Aaron Copeland much more than I've heard just 'Copeland.' Bach is often referred to as JS Bach to distinguish him from his composer son CPE Bach.

But imbeciles will continue to be imbeciles!

If most historical classical composers are considered to be gay, how can they be racist?
