I found one of my old BI pots in the back of my shed while cleaning. Now this must have been a drunken night because I forgot to clean and now has mold spot growing on the sides. No food left but you can tell it was a pastalaya night. I’m thinking it’s been at least 2 months. Wow that must have been a night. How would you clean or would you throw away. It’s a solid 5 gallon pot

Clean it out as good as you can without damaging and fry something in it.

I’d clean the heck out of it and then re-season. Should be good to go.

You should just throw it away it’s full of black mold and can never be remidated. For 15$ I will pick it up and dispose of it appropriately just drop me your address in a email.
Scrub that sucker with a scotch brite pad or some sand paper,, coat with oil and put it on a fire and then fry 7 batches of fish without cleaning only emptying oil and wiping out.

I'd just throw it away. Then again I'd throw it away even if it was in perfect shape. Cast iron is a some bespoke bullshite.

Buffer wheel, pour some oil in and put it over heat until it almost catches fire. Swish the oil around and dump it. While letting it cook a bit, bull a fire. Once it’s cooked enough to rub oil with a wad of napkins, do that. Turn upside down on fire and burn the shite out of it. Come back with a scouring pad and get all the craut off then fry 2 pounds bacon. Baste the pot in bacon grease. Take bacon out, wipe it out, put you some fresh grease and heat til it starts smoking. Cover that thang and you’re good.

Is it rusted any? If not....
Scrape out any food, spray down with dawn power wash, clean it with a soft brissle brush, rinse well with a hose pipe, put it on the burner and heat it up, spray it down with Avacado Oil Cooking spray, wipe lightly with a paper town, let it cool, put a paper towel in the bottom of the pot and store it.

A hand full of sand and some elbow grease should do the trick.

Somebody dropped a big ol' pot on that guy's head when he was a baby.

You left out “ dance around it in a circle under a full moon”. Cast iron isn’t that complicated.

My buddy's wife the other day was cleaning one in similar shape.
She sprinkled salt in it, put a dab of oil in it, cut a potato in half and used the flat side of the potato to scrub it down.
I was stunned how well that worked.
We rinsed it out and fried chicken wings one night and fish the next.
It's slicker than cum on a gold tooth again.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to proper clean them and re-season.
