It very well may but agreeing with northshorebamaman the question is will the issues outweigh the clear issues hauling 100,200 or more extra pounds of weight WILL cause. I have no issues with what someone decides to do to their body except where it costs me money like in health insurance.

Agreed. And patients are also losing muscle mass, which is not good either

Exactly. After dipping a toe into the exceedingly deep endocrinology pool, it seems that these meds cause loss of muscle mass in equal proportions to fat. No bueno. Plus the cost, indicated here as $1300 per month. But wildly popular in Hollywood, where the concentration camp victim look fits right in.

Huh? I shoot this in diabetic turds to get their CBG up, how does this correlate to appetite suppression or thyroid stimulation?

Shut up and do as you’re told, Dr. Feelgood.

Pretty certain it’ll have way less consequences than being obese.

That's the key to weight loss. Bottom line

The question of course is, how do we get people to do this and then maintain something close to calorie neutrality long term?

as a member of an insurance risk pool and consumer of scarce medical resources, I’d like to see the general public lose weight and avoid metabolic disease.

Apart from a few years early in my career (before I realized I could no longer eat and drink whatever I want and stay thin), I’ve always maintained a very healthy weight. And I’m too skeptical of panacea pills to ever take that crap.

But if I had to put unfatitude on one side of the scale and epidemic obesity and bettus on the other, I don’t know how it’d shake out (bad mixed metaphor). Need more long-term data re the drug.

Maybe some mass awareness of just how shitty the SAD is combined with a short-term solution could help stave off the impending health care disaster caused by obesity and metabolic disease. But then again, if people then they can pop a pill and continue hearing fudge rounds, ho-hoes and slamming sugah watah, then they’ll do just that and the underlying problem will fester. We’ll probably find that the body eventually adapts to the drug and you end up fat, bettick, and ded.

This is where classical Joe Rogan fans unite and say "well I guess we learned something from 2011-2018"

Dude always had pioneers on his show talking about gut health and the hormonal impact on health and weight loss when that was "unscientific"

I wouldn’t do this. I know plenty who are and have lost weight. But it seems when these weight loss drugs come out, down the road complications develop, such as heart issues. I think it happened with the “miracle” Fen Fen, years ago. Is this option safe?

I found cutting out HFCS and other junk, and increasing exercise helped. I’m not fat, but am middle aged, so find myself having to be more mindful than I’m my younger years.

The experimental drug, retatrutide, helped people lose, on average, about 24% of their body weight and 72% of their bed linens

ETA:

I love that this is getting downvoted. A bunch of fatasses with excuses. The .00001% of you that have actual thyroid issues causing weight gain (not other way around), are excused.

yep

look we have known the sides from glp-1 for a long arse time. yall act liek these are new drugs, they are just new for fatloss

it doesnt give gut disease. some people get constipated because they dont eat nearly enough fiber. Others get the bubble guts and the shits because they refuse to change the way they eat and try and stuff down very fatty and sugary food. If you try and maintain the same diet that got you fat in the first place...the medicine will punish you. Thats how its supposed to work.

as far as eating less...sure...but how is that message working out. This forces them to eat less essentially and will shrink their stomach and if they do not want to be stopped up or shitting themselves will force them to make diet changes and learn to eat correctly

as far as the losing muscle mass...if you put someone on a pretty severe caloric deficit and they do not lift and only eat very very small amounts of protein(like most women) and you are begging for muscle loss. those lifting and hitting protein goals of 1g per lbs of bodyweight do not show muscle loss

and i love fat people on here getting mad because they are coming out with a medicine that will help with that.

if its so easy for fat people to just stop eating correctly and look better...why dont many of you fat fricks do it?

A pill can’t be the solution for everything. People need to count their excess sugars, carbs, and avoid the high fructose corn syrup that’s in everything.

This is a rare governmental issue. Just ban the additives we’ve allowed industry to add to food, and clean up the water supply.

You don't even need to do that. Just count calories. Keep them under 1800 per day and you'll lose weight.

Americans aren't going to change their lifestyles.
Very true but this could also help some obese people get real weight loss and then they could start exercising more and hopefully change their eating habits.
