If you're looking for proof that The Emmys are rigged, just watch this show.

If anyone other than Jamie Lee Curtis wins Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series Emmy, then it's definitely rigged.

stayed up for Episode 7 “Forks” and it might be my favorite one so far. It centers mostly around Richie. The actor that plays Richie killed it.

Watching this one now- by far the best episode of the season.

ETA- through 8 episodes, new Richie is fricking awesome

Show is genius and acting is unreal. If you watch 6 and 7 many of those shots are continuous

I hope Carm doesn’t lose that dime piece. She’s marriage material

Also who the F would work in that industry? Horrible hours, no life, little pay.

I don't hate Syd like some do

But the show is set up to foster this annoying "the show is really all about Sydney" thing, where everyone on places like Reddit will put her at the center of every storyline and ignore her character faults/flaws/etc. And candidly there might be truth to that (she's either a central or the central character), but it's nonetheless annoying and a lot of fans of the show will think they're special for talking about it all the time as though it's not a widely-held view.

What a show. The writing and acting is incredible. It brings out all the emotions you could feel from watching a tv show. It feels raw and genuine and you dont get that in many shows or movies anymore. 10/10

Unpopular opinion but I think Sydney is the weakest character

She’s annoying AF

I always kind of viewed, just based on how the first season was shot, that Richie, Carmy and Sydney all shared the spotlight as the central character. All of them bring something different to the table. I imagine before the series is over, we'll get deeper dives on ALL the employees but Richie, Carmy and Syd will remain the focal point.

I like how everybody questions him about the suit, and when he responds, they’re all ‘Yeah? Well it looks good on you’. It’s like the suit brought him unquestionable legitimacy, so nobody’s going to question or give him shite anymore.

I'm not sure how to say this, but I watch a lot of random TV, but this show feels more like art than TV. I don't know if that makes sense or not.

She’s just so selfish and entitled.

Knowing that Carmy would ultimately sabotage his incredibly healthy relationship with Claire and watching her petulantly bully him into doing it for her own gain made me want to hit her with a bus.

I mean Jimmy did it too but at least it was his fricking money. And he also at the very least admitted that it made him “happier than anything” that Carmy had someone.

My issue with her character arc right now that I just don't believe it. And that grates on me (it's a minor complaint, I love the show, this is inside baseball bitching for fellow enthusiasts).

In my mind at least, chef's pining for a Michelin star and wanting to be tutored by an elite one are sociopaths, and she's not one. She's weak. Which is fine if that ends up being the story - that she's not cut out for this or her transitioning into someone who is, but this season they made her weak and whiny and a complete follower while seemingly positioning her to be the more committed/invested partner and the "pro" while Carmy is out chasing a girl.

Again, maybe that's part of the show and it annoying me is a success by the writers. But it just seemed a little off/unlikely. Her being the nose down, fast riser who is dominating the operations of the restaurant and increasingly getting the glory while Carmy struggles with distractions - that I'd buy. But she was mostly useless all season.

Ok, I haven't read through the thread yet but I just finished the seven fishes episode and all I can say is WOW! That was one awesome, intense character driven hour of TV. If that episode doesn't win an Emmy, the Emmy is worthless.

The first season is what's up for the Emmys this year. I expect him to get nominated.
