Dad was pretty high ranking dude. Can't give it away but I didn't pay my taxes for a few years, knocked up this stripper, and got busted on a gun charge and was able to skate scott free

Is this a movie plot line?
I'm pretty sure me and my brothers - sisters came later - never got away with shite.

My great-great-great-great-great uncle was Rutherford B. Hayes.

I have a great-uncle who became a brigadier general in the Air Force.

Great, great, great, great grandpa was a very honored colonel in the Revolutionary War.
My grandfather was a colonel and led an artillery battalion into Berlin.
I stayed enlisted. Did my thing.

CiC isn’t a military rank. It is a civilian position.

General of the Armies is the highest US military rank, and Pershing is the only person who held that title in his lifetime. So if you aren’t related to him, then you aren’t related to the person who achieved the highest rank in the military. Arguments could be made for Washington and Grant.

Edit: and maybe Dewey

I’ve told this before. My Dad joined as enlisted before World War II . Sargent when the war started and mustered out as a Colonel in the Marine Corp. it was a different time and
Situation. He was given an option to go to Annapolis after the war but Mom didn’t want to be a Marine Corp wife

Grandfather's youngest cousin only got to 1LT, but won the MOH in Vietnam and has part of the 210 loop around LC named after him. So kinda neat

Like REALLY pissed.
my reaction when my son said he wanted to join (he ultimately did not). We have had several casualties of war (death and injuries) in our family and they were not high ranking.

Retired as a colonel in 2021.

Proves the Army has low standards.

Or a sense of humor.
