No offense intended, but you should have mentioned this to your prescriber and gotten the Prozac changed to an alternative a long time ago.

I’ve been through at least ten others with zero benefits, only unpleasant side effects. I’m about to cross into my late 50’s, and I’d love to be depression free, but I don’t know if that’s possible for me. My fear is that the years and years of being on SSRI’s has somehow altered my brain chemistry permanently. There’s a bit of fear of how I’ll be when the weaning process is complete.

TexasTiger08 claimed he was 5'8" 205 lbs back in May. Since then, he's had a summer from HELLL emotionally wife that left him, moved out to get her own place, is shagging with her co-worker (who happened to be one of OP's friends), and as of early this month she was pregnant and wanting a divorce.

And said coworker is essentially her boyfriend.

OP is a reck and literally hundreds of posters on the OT have provided months of marital advice and self-help plans, etc.

The advice on this thread is great. It’s nice to see success stories, as it gives me hope. I find the first step to be the hardest. I want to say my meds or more aligned now, but my emotional state is completely different from what it was when I originally posted this thread. My big activity for the afternoon/evening is yard work.

Then, change that. Only you can change that. Go play golf. Go do something else. Also, don't do the drinking you were doing. As I recall, in your other thread, you mentioned something about missing a wedding or some other function due to drinking too much. There were several episodes you mentioned.

The drinking has curtailed big time. I’ve noticed that when I do crack open one, I get full fast.

Yard work is an improvement over my previous activities. I would just come home and sleep.

I've been diagnosed with depression before. But I can never see myself taking meds for it. I don't want a pill that somehow convinces me that I shouldn't be depressed. Along with all the fricked up side effects. That's just my opinion.

I had to go back and see if the depressed thread or the divorced thread came first

That is good to know, thanks, looked interesting. I think this 'program' that the podcast touted was what is not available here yet-it looked more a like self administer and listen to the therapy through headphones-like a guided journey but you are on your own... maybe the take home scripts aren't considered legal here but you can go to a center?

Ketamine therapy will change your life if you qualify for it. Only downside is insurance doesn't cover it so you pay out of pocket for every session

Literally switched my medicines yesterday hoss. Go to your psychiatrist and tell them what you've told us. ESPECIALLY if you are having side effects. That's exactly why I went. That shite can become permanent.

Most significantly, in a major Canadian epidemiological study examining the relationship between antidepressants and diseases, paroxetine was associated with a 620 percent increase in the rate of breast cancer in women who had taken it over a four-year period.

quote:

Among these are effects on male fertility, birth defects, gestational hypertension, prolonged QT interval in infants, hyperprolactinemia, cognitive impairment in the elderly, autism, sexual side effects, weight gain, and suicidality, aggression, and akathisia in children and adolescents.

quote:

When Paxil (paroxetine) first was approved, it was hailed as a much needed and welcomed addition to the antidepressant/antianxiety arsenal. In addition to being a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, it also had mild to moderate noradrenergic effects through inhibiting reuptake of norepinephrine (NRI or NARI) and could be activating, which often helped depressed patients with lethargy.

After a few years in Phase IV post-marketing clinical reporting, paroxetine exhibited a higher than average number of adverse events reported to both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the manufacturer.
