The last couple of weeks I have spiraled. It’s as if suddenly the dosage I’m on isn’t enough. Things that used to make me happy no longer do. In the grand scheme of things, I have a good life (stable income, beautiful wife, etc.).

I always say, you can’t really help how you feel. I don’t want to feel like shite…the anxious feeling, the unsettled feeling, the inability to establish a routine, the lack of time to catch my breath and just the general feeling of being unhappy.

Has anybody run into this issue and switched meds? I’m hesitant to up the dosage, as I am not a fine of the side effects. I’ve been on my current meds for 9 years. I started taking them because my stress and anxiety was impacting me physically. I had to go see a neurologist, get an EEG, and later took an EKG. The meds immediately fixed the issue. Nine years later, here I am.

Go to a Psychiatrist, not your GP, and get on new meds. They don't have the same effect forever. GP's are far from experts even though they dispense this stuff like chiklets.Go to an expert.

I was on the same meds for years and just had to shake things up a few months ago because they were no longer working. I really didn't want to play the medicine game, but I'm very glad I did. I'm feeling 10000% better. Unfortunately, I put on more weight with the new meds, but I'm happier than ever and don't really care.

That’s my plan. I hate feeling this way. It’s a roller coaster. I can feel myself losing grip day by day, and I think I’m at my lowest point since starting medication.

This could be why. Talk to your doctor immediately.

I dealt with that. I was on 150mg Wellbutrin and also didn’t want to deal with side effects. My doctor increased my dose to 300mg, and it’s been life changing.

A strong spiritual life, exercise, diet and counseling have also helped tremendously. Wishing you all the best!

Maybe try a supplement to your regular dose, like Zyprexa.

Sometimes if you've been on something long enough, it just stops working as well. All you can do is talk to the doctor. Don't quit anything cold turkey.

I don’t really think my meds are that helpful anymore. Not really in a great place right now but I just keep pushing forward and try to just get through each day.

I hope things get better for you OP and you’re able to find a solution.

Yes I’ve been taking meds for nearly 20 years and I’m depressed as hell. They help manage symptoms but aren’t a magic cure.

Was on an SNRI for 11 years. Got off it last summer, and have never looked back. I have rough days here and here, but overall I am happier. That shite is poison.

If youre anything like me, you need to get 15 mins of sunlight, sustain a cardio workout of at least 30 minutes, and walk at least 14,000 steps per day to keep the crazy at bay.

With or without meds, weed, etc

Ive had these same issues in the last year. Just communicate clearly with your psych. This is pretty common; just pray it doesn't take a few months to find new ones that work. That roller coaster is not very fun at all.

FWIW too, the thing that has helped me the most in the last 6 months is getting back on a regular exercise routine and limiting my caffeine intake. I feel like a new freaking person. So much happier and stable. Ive been very lucky to actually back off on the dosage on my meds because of these positive changes.

Good luck though! and please, more than anything, share what you are feeling with your loved ones.

Meds are part of it. But dependency on pharmaceuticals is treating the symptoms. Pair it with counseling to give yourself more tools, self awareness, and coping strategies.

Yup. I'd add to invest in a smart watch that tracks your sleep and make sure that you're getting quality sleep cycles (rem light deep). If not, that's definitely the root of all mental deficiencies.

This is really number one above exercise.

Right there with you. Stay away from the GP and go see a specialist. I just changed mine and it’s a process. And even with meds I feel buried some days. And I’m the same as you - good job, good house, family etc but I carry the financial load as single earner. It beats me to death every single day.

I’ve also had three different docs tell me I need a hobby of some kind. Working all day, stressing all day and coming home to the chaos of life is super unhealthy (which I already know). They all say I need to take 30-60 mins a day for me time. Of course I tell them I need 25 hours in a day for that.

Hang in there
