yeah, one of the many questions surrounding this...
WTF are they doing out at 12:15am for cheerleading practice? Kind of late, aint it?

From the local article:
quote:
Shearer said the four cheerleaders have been driving back and forth from the Austin area to the team's location in Oak Ridge, all season. She said the girls all carpool together from the Austin area, so they regularly all park their cars at the H-E-B in Elgin.
Shearer said the cheerleaders left practice at about 9:30 p.m. Monday and arrived at the H-E-B between midnight and 12:15 a.m.

It seems they went to the Woodlands in Houston for practice and were commuting from the Austin area in a carpool.
So if they leave Houston around 9:30pm I guess they could end up in the Austin area around 12:15am.
People have no sense of security, whether it's DAs letting out violent repeat offenders again and again or the news telling certain groups of people they're being hunted for simply existing.
This is the reason...folks suffereing from irrational fears. Anxiety disorders are the most common form of mental illness and its estimated that 30% of adults in the US suffer from it. As someone pointed out in this thread nearly 330 million people own nerly 400 million guns and almost none of either were involved in a violent crime yesterday and will not be today. The same is true of violent crimes....almost no one will suffer from a crime in the US today, violent or otherwise, but about 30% of adults think they are just about to become a victim any minute. It is a mental illness that is wide spread and devastating. Couple it with the propensity for the state to refuse to prosecute the actions of the mentally ill and you have an atmosphere where mentally ill folks are killing people for no reason and never being taken to task for having done so.

Gotcha. I thought they were just commuting between Austin and Elgin. Time frame makes more sense.

The girls made the trip to practice in Houston three times a week. Very poor parental decision having teen girls on the road late at night over and over again.
I assume they came across a drug deal in the HEB parking lot.

I'm sure you'd have the exact same "don't cry over spilled milk" attitude if it was your daughter who got shot by an irresponsible gun owner.
I didnt say the family or even their close community shouldnt be upset. Of course they should. I said you shouldnt focus on constant negative news stories everyday that have nothing to do with you. There is an important difference there.
And yes i would feel the exact same way if this happened in my life. I would hope my daughter's life and death didnt become a national news story and bullshite talking point for morons to spend their time arguing about.
In today's society, we are so focused on matters we have no control over and events we have nothing to do with that we are actively ignoring and dismissing real problems in our own lives and communities.
If we spent more time trying to improve the lives of our neighbors and community instead of arguing about how some other community we have nothing to do with should have handled a situation that didnt effect us the world would be a better place.
But by all means continue to live in a hyper-politicized negative world of carefully curated propaganda designed to keep you distracted and angry.

But if you only focus on the bad news you'll never notice anything else.
yea cuz loss of life doesnt matter. humanity is gone for good

TL:DR for your diatribe: you believe that ignoring problems makes them go away.
Gotcha. Good luck, sir

and how do you accidentally try to get into the wrong car? were they kicking the door putting dents into it? were they beating on the car?
the way you know this story is BS is because they arent getting in a strange car with a guy they dont know by pure accident.
sounds like they tried to carjack him and he had a gun so they ran.
being cheerleaders doesnt allow you to carjack people without facing the FAFO rules

Why would you think it's a good idea to GET OUT of your car to shoot someone running away?

These girls are real deal cheerleaders, not some rag tag bunch of JV squad taking beginner lessons.
The girl who got shot was going to cheer for Baylor next year. Hopefully she recovers and can continue on her path.

You completely missed his point but that surprises absolutely no one here.

Pretty girl too.
This is always so weird to me. No, I’m not talking about you, I hear a lot of people do it, myself included.
Whenever something tragic happens to someone and they are younger and pretty by standards, we feel the need to mention they were pretty or beautiful. Is that just human nature?
