Agreed. As soon as he exited his vehicle he lost self-defense.

Social media and the news media plays up crime and violence, and people get scared. So, they overreact to innocent encounters.

Are the cheerleaders white?

Need to know if this will be an important story or not.

That’s what happens when crime everywhere is out of control and nothing gets done about it.

Instead of thinking the person made a mistake you assume they have ill intent

One of the girls accidentally tried to get into the wrong car, Shearer said. That's when, she said, a "guy got out and they saw that he had a gun. And so they tried to speed off and he shot his gun, like five times or so into the car."

How did they speed off if it was the wrong car?

Wrong. They got back into their car and drove off. His life was no longer being threatened at that point so he can't use that as a defense. He's going to prison.

According to ABC News, Heather Roth, a cheerleader with the Woodlands Elite, said in an Instagram Live post that she was the one who got out of her friend's car and opened the door of another vehicle she thought was her own, only to notice a man was in the passenger seat. She said she got out of the car and back into her friend's vehicle, the report said.

Roth reportedly said the man approached their vehicle and she rolled down a window to apologize. That's when the man started shooting, she said, according to ABC News.

From the article:

quote:

The two incidents sparked a national conversation around gun violence and “stand your ground” laws, according to which a would-be shooter defending life or property does not have to retreat before taking violent action. The shooting of the cheerleaders is likely to further fuel the discussion.

No they haven't. Neither of those incidents were people "standing their ground" but were people clearly in violation of law. So how can it "spark a conversation" about laws that don't exist?

They're was one paragraph floating around (a quote for some random dolt, probably) that kind of "yadda yaddas" over the part where the girls got into the correct car. It's been posted several times in this thread. I should have read the whole article, but the existence of that quote (like that crap headline we saw after the KC incident that confused people here) just shows how bad the state of interpersonal communications is right now. People reeeeally only think/talk in bite-sized, ungrammatical snippets now. "lil' baby lit af" - "ikr."

When I was in high school, I could only dream of cheerleaders accidentally getting into my car. That was like a pipe-dream.

You are blaming news and social media for these ‘shoot first, ask questions later’ lunatics who have been shooting people over the last few days for ringing their doorbell or pulling into the wrong driveway ?? Not only is that a stretch, it’s just shows lazy thinking on your part .
