Not it's not dude come the frick on. It's pretty easy to distinguish between them and when someone says this I immediately disregard anything else they say bc they clearly don't know wtf they are talking about.

It is a precision of language issue quite frankly used as gatekeeping. While not precise, clip was used for decades pretty much interchangeably with magazine. WWII and Korean war vets probably had a lot to do with the use of "clip" since they used clips.

I agree with technically correct usage and I admit it bothers me, but I'll also admit it's a pretty small thing that as obtuse said is used for gatekeeping and dunking on people outside of gun culture (or those new to it)
So I guess the concept of some gucci rifle type (like me) bagging on the incorrect terminology of an old timer who probably spent a lot more of his life dependent on a rifle than me just seems pretty lame
