Where would you send your child and why?

My only stip behind going Private is the kids that went to private when I was in school were all shite heads with rich parents. I don’t want to fit that description or even be close to it.

Some may argue the education is the same.

I've had kids in both. Most people choose private because it's the only option where they live

This depends entirely on where you are located.

If you're in the LC area, you have multiple good public options.

If you're in Orleans or EBR parish? Not much. But you could go to their surrounding MSA to find good public options.

Where do you live? Which public schools and which private schools are around you? Those are important details that you left out.

Where do you live and how good are the public schools?

That's a very general picture of private school kids that you just painted.

And that would be a stupid argument in most cases in this state.

Agreed with SFP. It all depends on where you live.

Some places have great options for public schools (The Woodlands, Chapel Hill, NJ suburbs of NYC, Scottsdale, suburbs north of Dallas, etc). Private schools are not needed there.

In other places, the public schools are a train wreck other than an academically-focused magnet (New Orleans, Baton Rouge to a lesser extent).

Depends where you live. I have had my kids in public but loved in a small town and the schools were fine and the closest private school was over 30 min away. Live in BR now and they go to private because I am not setting foot in a BR public school. We are not rich and my kids act like normal kids.

The education is NOT the same except maybe BR Magnet High School but that place is a liberal indoctrination camp.

What area are you talking about? That makes a huge difference when considering this question.

All of mine go to private school even though I live in what is considered a very good public school district. Why? Because the school doesn't put up with aggressive shitty kids. They get the boot. It is a better peer group. Class sizes are smaller. The teachers, though they aren't paid as much as in public schools, don't seem as burned out. They are there because they too, don't want the public school environment even though it's considered a very good district.

You would be surprised what C & D student at a private school will get out of it. Even just the average kids. Kids who seek an education can get it in both the private and public systems. I believe the average kids can easily get lost in the public school system and that’s not the case at private schools. You are forced to learn in private schools. They really are “college prep” and they also give your kids a solid foundation for success in life. It also has a lot to do with where you live. Growing up in NOLA there wasn’t really any other options at the time. It’s a huge sacrifice for some parents but in my opinion it’s worth it if you can swing it. And private school is definitely not a bunch of rich kids.

I live in one of the best districts in the state….upper middle class and partially rural farmland. The schools have been fine for the most part.

In hindsight though I think private is the way to go if you can afford it. They run a tighter ship, most have some religious basis and aren’t forced to deal with the governmental crap that is pervasive wherever you are.

If I have kids, they are going to private school

I went to a “great” public school but the kids who went to the nearby catholic school simply blew away my classmates (on average). Even if we ended up at the same college, the post grad results were quite different (again, on average).

Both kids in private school. We are a secular family and oldest daughter became a hard core catholic and is going to do missionary work this summer.
So private s school will push them in other ways. But I think it's better than the peer pressure in public school.

Per your post, it sounds like you should go public.

I’m going private because the education is better, and it will limit the exposure of my child to other children who have idiots for parents.

ETA: I also know someone who is involved in science curriculum design for the state and he’s a grooming piece of shite liberal that lets politics infiltrate every aspect of his life. I don’t want my child influenced by that loser.

In North Texas (DFW suburbs) we pay high property taxes to insure our public schools are top notch. Probably what you would pay for private in other areas.

Most of my kid's teachers have degrees from major universities and many have their masters.

The opportunity to get a good education is there but it's up to the kid to put the effort in and make grades, the school offers AP classes and dual credit (where you can earn college credits).

The school also has over 3500 kids in it so there's plenty of opportunity to F up too.

Mine is teetering on the fence

There are no good public options. The number one rated public school in Louisiana is Ben Franklin and they pretty much churn out nothing but communist. Smart communist but commies none the less. Public schools are run by the GOVERNMENT. Do you trust your child’s education with the GOVERNMENT? Run by unionized wanna stay home commie teachers ? Cmon man
All government teachers are just lazy waiting to retire biding their time or if they are dedicated they are master indoctrinators to communism. Lose-lose
