Former South Carolina governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley announced Tuesday that she is running for president, seeking the Republican nomination for the 2024 election.

In a video message posted on Twitter, Haley touted her record as South Carolina's governor, while looking to the future and the needs of the country.

"It's time for a new generation of leadership," Haley stated.

In January, Trump said Haley called him to discuss the possibility of her running against him.

"Go by your heart if you want to run," Trump said he told Haley. And he said he told her she "should do it."

Trump the appeared to take a dig at Haley, noting that she had previously "publicly" said she wouldn’t seek the White House in 2024 if Trump ran again.

The former president again took a mild shot at Haley in an interview with Hugh Hewitt earlier this month, saying, "Nikki suffers from something that's a very tough thing to suffer from: She's overly ambitious."

Among the others making moves toward launching a campaign or seriously considering a Republican presidential run are Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo; now-former Govs. Larry Hogan of Maryland and Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas; Govs. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Kristi Noem of South Dakota and Glenn Youngkin of Virginia; former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and former Rep. Will Hurd of Texas.

That's a lot of vote splitting.

It would be interesting to see how much money has been spent to date making sure Trump doesn't win another election.

Another field so huge that the end result will be victory for the candidate with the deepest pockets and thus the greatest ability to "outlast" the others.

Peachy.

"new generation of leadership"

This is how you will identify the establishment plan to undermine Trump.

Huckabee Sanders used the exact phrase 3 times last week.

Trump should simply say, he is the new generation of leadership.

Leader of the America First generation.

Remember who started the flag removals? Nikki was pro-Confederate flag when she was a SC legislator from Lexington County. Then she became governor and decided abandoning her principles was the key to getting the support of moderates and white guilt types. She is a spineless chameleon who ushered in the precedent for all of this statue removal bs. Not to mention her foreign policy is the same as Bill Kristol's. I would NEVER vote for her.

I doubt if Trump will ask her to be his VP.

He probably thinks she's a back stabber.

He did a remarkable job in getting elected to Congress 3 times in predominantly blue South Texas--but presidential material...no. If he runs, his campaign will have a shorter shelf life than Kamala's 2020 presidential campaign.

Kinda of reminds me of when the Onion made fun of Bobby Jindal:

Bobby Jindal Not Sure He Willing To Put Family Through 2-Month Presidential Campaign

quote:

“Imagine what it’s like being 10 or 13 years old and having your dad spend dozens of days running for president—what would that do to your life?” said Jindal, who admitted that during the roughly five-day-long peak of his campaign he might be too busy to stay in touch with his loved ones. “And we could be in the thick of it right up until a few days after the 2015 Iowa Straw Poll. If I hold, say, six fundraising dinners, that’s six meals I’m skipping with the kids. Not to mention I’ll miss my daughter’s big dance recital, which is really important to her.”

“Oh, wait, no I won’t,” he added. “That’s in September.”

Nikki got in early though. This way she will be able to grift off the back of a soon failing campaign for at least a year.

I’ve normally reached the point where I don’t care who gets nominated because it’s all useless and fake anyway, but in the case of this bitch, I’d work to defeat her, badly.

I’ll never forget the flag, “Nimrata”.

That's one of the most meaningless phrases I hear politicians say. Electing AOC president would be a 'new generation of leadership.'

He loves that she's in. The more crowded the field, the better off he is. We'll see how many selfish Republicans try to enter in and hand the nomination over to the loser.
