Buy a nice toilet. If you go the cheap route, have fun scrubbing your streak marks after the lightest shits.

Go to Coburn’s and ask for a Gerber “super flush” type. You won’t regret it.

A skirted toilet: Toto, Kohler, Swiss Madison, or American Standard.

Don't get the American standard touchless flush....It was an issue from day 1

That being said American Standard has the best customer service so I would encourage you to buy a different American standard product.

Don’t forget the best accessory. A Squatty Potty will change your life and save your colon.

If you get it with a Gerber, get it with the Flushmate compressed water tank.

For me, it was worth the money to have one in every bathroom. It’s like riding a Harley, and letting friends and family ride too.

Just get one that can basically flush a bucket of golf balls
I had 2 Kohlers installed in my house about this time last year @ around $900 each.

Plumber said they could flush 18 golf balls. He swore he had seen the Kohler rep demo it.

Get a bidet. With the price of toilet paper it'll pay for itself in no time.

Especially if you've got a bunch like mine. They practically use a whole roll for each visit. Plus these water conservation commodes tend to clog up PDQ. At least the one I've got. My bidet has more than paid for itself.

When we did a remodel of our bathrooms our plumber suggested we get Toto, handicapped toilets. We followed his advice.

When the plague hit I installed bidets.

We are very satisfied with the toto and the bidet.

Higher up is good if you plan on living there as you get older or during rehab for a broken leg or hip. Soft close if you go pee during the night and don’t want to scare the shite out of your wife. That assumes you put the seat down.

Why should I spend over $200???
I think just use common sense, decide your price range and size, features, go to Lowes or Home Depot on line or at stores, look, decide, buy. Good brand names are worthwhile, but there are several x AmStandard, Delta, Moen, Toto are a few. I like the tall seated ones and soft close, too. You should come in under $200 for most. Isn't rocket science.

I know toilets. A basic American standard is fine but won't flush as well as a Kohler. Also the finish quality improves as you go up.

Kohler is usually your solid ground. American Standard is your cheap one.
Honestly most can't tell the difference.

I chose to buy a $200 toilet then put a $350 seat on it. Kohler Japan style seat.

Nothing like a heated seat on a cold morning.
