I'd rather be able to walk through both. You people are just scared of everything.
Absolutely nothing is stopping you from walking through the hood every single day. Just park your car and start walking around at night for a few hours to get some fresh air. Are you scared or something?

Burn calories not gas. Save the earth.

What's funny is the "walkable cities" people are the same ones that hate chain stores, restaurants, etc... but if everything had to be within walking distance for people without vehicles, then there would have to be even MORE of those places.
What kinda drugs are you smoking? I lived Uptown New Orleans for years and it is not inundated with chains. Sure, there are some, but a lot fewer than you see in urban sprawl cities
ETA: I was also able to walk to bars, restaurants, grocery stores, parks, etc... I would go weeks without driving my vehicle. If I wanted to go to the WHD I would usually just hop on my bike.

I would like to be able to walk from my house to get groceries and a pizza instead of having to drive.
I have places two blocks from my house that I order food from. Why would I walk it when I can drive it? What's the advantage of walking in the cold or rain when I can be in a warm seat? What's the advantage of taking longer to get home so that the food is colder before I eat it?

We get it. If you had to walk, you couldn't have your truck as your personality.

Isn't this really more about your pronouns in your signature / pees sitting down personality?

Walkable neighborhoods are great so long as you don’t want a back yard, the area has relatively low crime, and the weather is tolerable. That’s why people vacation in walkable locations.
There are nice walkable neighborhoods in New Orleans, but the weather and crime are awful.
Let me put it this way, I didn’t move out because I disliked how walkable it was.

See what I'm saying. Just invent a scenario in your head and then suggest other people should be scared. FWIW, where I live, I walk and bike home on the daily. I walked anywhere I could when I resided in NO. Not sure what your point is here, other than you are scared of walking at night.

My point is that most normal people wouldn't want to walk up and down Canal street at night.

Live look at anyone who makes the mistake of thinking Baton Rouge is a walkable city:

I live in Mid City BR and walk and bike everywhere around here all the way to LSU campus. Are there better cities for it? Sure but take advantage of what you got
