I understood the legal system down there. Don't put yourself in a bad situation. Respect their laws whether you agree with them or not. At least as long as you are in their country.

People keep giving Mulkey shite for not letting Griner come out publicly while at Baylor. Except that would have gotten her kicked out of school. So Mulkey was protecting her education and basketball career by advising her to stay in the closet (publicly).

Maybe if Griner had actually learned the lesson of following the rules, even if you don't agree with them, so that you don't get disproportionately fricked by the people setting that bad rules, she wouldn't be in the situation she is currently.

Under normal times, no. But now, a “certain” political group in America has now embraced Russia. Add to that the particular pigmentation of Griner’s skin and many on this board will 100% side with Russia.

Where’s the political agenda? Give details that are coherent and backed up with evidence.

You do realize she had a prescription for it right? It’s the equivalent of being arrested for having your heart medication with you on a trip and being arrested for it. Of course people should know the laws of places they are traveling, but let’s not pretend this wasn’t a political stunt by Russia too and most anyone else would have already been back in America if this had happened to them. Russia was making a statement with this.

This is how Drew Brees couldve handled the flag kneeling and BLM nonsense to avoid getting backed into a corner. He was forced to go against his principles and one side lost all respect for him, and the other side never liked him anyway.

Smart for Mulkey to just avoid it. The SC coach was already trying to make her into a political figure last year.

For proof that Kim has already commented on the situation months ago.

And how is that different than here? You think the reporters question to Mulkey wasn’t a political stunt?

There's no shortage of assholes that have grandstanded on BG. Mulvey already authentic well wishes to Griner, who publicly trashed her for Baylor's policies.

I'm glad Mulkey isn't giving empty platitudes.

You think USA Today will run the old quotes from Mulkey about this?
USA Today sent that reporter to Baton Rouge to ask one question (and the USA Today writer put his name on it, what a coward) and if I was that journalist and had any integrity I would have told USA Today to go to hell!
Didn't the federal govt tell everyone to stop making this a story and that it is hurting the behind the scenes negotiation every time they post something in the media.
If these people are so concerned about Griner, why don't they fly into Russia and go protest about it.

Maybe u should step away from your favorite news channel. Billions of tax payers dollars are going to one of the most corrupt countries in the world to defend what? More corruption. Millions are funneled back to our law makers unchecked, that’s why Americans don’t like it. Not because we favor Russia. Griner was clear how she felt about the United States so Americans that love this country side with this country and therefore it’s hard to have sympathy. As far as your pigment comment, grow up and stop looking at everything as racists you’re embarrassing yourself.

No, its never gonna happen.

Oddly, a trans wbb sports writer even defended Kim saying she did comment on it before and posted the quote. People in the comment section were still not happy she didn't say it yesterday.

Awesome job by Mulkey.

That’s a trap question and she knew it.

I can see how maybe she could have said something along the lines of “Britney was a great player for me and I love and care for her and her family but I don’t have enough information to make a comment on the current situation”

As hard as it may be to see now, it is still worth noting that the angry Twitter mob represents such a tiny portion of the population at large and really isn't worth even acknowledging. They just seem to scream the loudest.

I do find it hilarious that some of these woke assholes are calling for all of the current LSU players to hit the transfer portal immediately. And they seem to think that Kim won't be able to recruit anymore after yesterday. Whatever.

Wouldn’t you be considered a communist for cheering at locking someone up for a plant. And don’t “it’s the law” bs.

Five people upvoted this nonsense. What do you people think is the definition of communist?

Yep, and half of them are bots. I love the way Mulkey handled that. Just don't even acknowledge it.

It doesn't take balls to ask a coach a question. Anyway, I would think Mulkey is more intimidating than Saban.

Reporter tried to make it political and Mulkey shot it down.

Why would Kim say that if she doesn't "love and care for her and her family"?
