I do find it hilarious that some of these woke assholes are calling for all of the current LSU players to hit the transfer portal immediately. And they seem to think that Kim won't be able to recruit anymore after yesterday. Whatever.
There are some arse holes on twitter and many of them are directly tweeting all the players and recruits. But they have been gunning for Kim for years way before this stuff even happened.
The only true bad thing in all this is this fake outrage spread on social media has a bunch of WNBA players (some of which HS kids look up to) tweeting out at Kim for this but the WNBA is a highly politicized league and organization so I'm not shocked. Angel Reeses's mom came to Kim's defense says a lot.
If LSU were to land that top 10 recruit (Rosario), they are all going to go into cardiac arrest and that will be something to watch.
A poor recruit from 2024 is getting harassed online for visiting LSU this past weekend and turned off the comments.

She doesn’t have to answer, but she already has. So why not, for the sake of recruiting & alignment at the very least, reiterate the suitable cookie cutter response she gave in June ?

Because for better or worse (and I think better), that is not the person Kim is. She isn't going to give a half-hearted bullshite answer. And I am pretty sure she knew that reporter was going to ask that question and she knew he was just there to stir up shite, which unfortunately he succeeded at.
Yeah, maybe she should have repeated what she said in June. But Kim is a person that is going to do things her way and live with the results, and I respect the hell out of that.

Honestly it’s a thing whether Mulkey wants it to be or not.
BG is probably the biggest story in women’s basketball.
Now other former players are trashing her for not having BG’s back.
It’s not a good look for Mulkey and you have to know it’s going to be used against us in recruiting.

But beyond that, the perception is becoming that Mulkey doesn’t give a frick about her players once they aren’t useful to her.
And it’s her former players saying this. They’re literally saying “know who you’re players for”
People keep saying this is a lose lose for her and I really don’t think so
And I’m a fan. I yhjnk she’s a great coach. I think she can win championships here.
But idk if this is the move.

She already has made a very public statement about Griner.
And frankly, Griner does not deserve Mulkey's support.

This is the classic case of people overreacting to something that will be completely forgotten about by next week more than likely. In almost every case of people trying to blow things up way bigger than it actually is and someone trying to get canceled and then next week it's completely forgotten in most cases. This will not affect Kim's recruiting in any real capacity nor will it affect her ability to win games here.
For the record, I think many people can sympathize with BG in the fact it sucks she's in jail there and for a significant time for what seems like a pretty honest mistake (just not thinking about not bringing the weed vape pens over there). Obviously, she is being used a political pawn to some degree considering the current climate, but Russia is just very harsh in general on people with drugs. There are other americans that have been there much longer than she has on similar charges that seem like crazy sentences. What annoys many people are the people running to her aid acting like this is some unique case and she has to be set free but these same people have remained completely silent on the other americans over there in similar situations. They go on to argue she was only over there because she "had" to be to make money because poor her only made over $220k a year in the WNBA (this really makes 90%+ of americans do the
). It would be easier to sympathize her situation if the people making it into a big deal would stop with the nonsense they are saying to be frank. As far as Mulkey goes, Griner burned that bridge a bit in the past and to expect her to be singing the praises of someone who burned that bridge already is a bit silly. She already said in the past she hopes she gets home safe, she doesnt need to repeat herself to a reporter trying to make a narrative out of something.

The people who have an issue with this didn't like Mulkey in the first place.
This is a non-issue. It will disappear and LSU will have a great season and Mulkey will have a great recruiting class and Griner will still be in a Russian prison and these trolls will have moved on to something else.

In the world of WBB people care.
But you’re right the average person doesn’t give a frick about WBB.
But Mulkey is a WBB coach. She’s in that world. This is a big deal in that world.
It would be like Dean Smith not wanting to talk about MJ in a fricking Russian prison.
