Classic example of correlation vs causation. No study has ever proven that all of this was due to the wolf reintroduction. In fact, there are studies and articles with scientists pointing out that many areas of the park haven't been restored, and likely never will be because of how altered they became in the absence of wolves. And there are others that tie the "restoration" to other factors, like water table, or that even argue that it's a "bottom up" food web that's driving the system, and not a "top down" as some want to suggest.
The pro-wolf advocates (the ones that have pushed this narrative since 1997) also ignore the fact that grizzly populations increased as well.
Needless to say, this is one of the most controversial topics in ecology circles.
There was actually a good book written about the Northern Range in the 80s that debunked alot of these arguments before they were even made in the late 90s. Aspen weren't even a significant vegetation community pre-European settlement of the area, and the hypothesis of the authors of that book was that it was the suppression of fire, and not an increase in elk, that led to the decline.

Now do a video on how the Wolves grew so rapidly and spread out beyond the park and onto farmers' lands and killed all their Buffalo and cattle, this affecting their ability to provide for their families.

Prepare to be downvoted to hell (because people can't stand someone raining on their parade, as is evidenced by the downvote on my post above), but there were even questions at the time about whether or not federal law was violated with the reintroduction.
The courts ultimately upheld that the reintroduction was lawful, but that didn't change the controversy around it because of the impacts outside of the park. And it's still a major issue today because guess what? Wolves don't understand man-made boundaries. Nobody told them they are supposed to stay in the park.

Yet it did. I took a picture of the first wolf seen in Jackson since they wiped them out. I think they shot the one we saw about 2 days later. Alphas doing Alpha things.

A lot of that could have also been the Yellowstone was starting to recover from the Fires in 88 that devastated 70% of the park.

That’s cool. I’m not against reintroducing wolves at all, but I’m also in favor of reasonable hunting of predators. Same for cats and bears. Everyone likes predators until they are in your backyard or taking money from you.

I went to Yellowstone a couple of years ago and went to a spot where wolves show up somewhat regularly. We didn’t see any but could hear some howls in the distance. Still pretty cool to be standing in an area watching bison hearing the howls.

I know a lot of people have strong feelings and disagree, but the wolf was eradicated from the lower 48 for a reason.
