Ironically, Mississippi State was ranked #1 in the first ever CFP rankings. They have been very competitive in football at times. Between 2013 and 2022 they finished ranked 4 times, had a winning record 7 seasons, and finished with 9 wins or more 4 times.
They got blindsided by Leach’s sudden death.
They are typically good at baseball and women’s bball. Men’s basketball won the western division 5 times from 2001-2010. And they have made the NCAA tourney the last three seasons.
It isn’t fair to judge their current football program only 3 seasons after Leach’s death.
Your critique of them is not really accurate.

It looks like a 10 year treasury note closed at 4.081% today. That is as close to zero risk investment as there is.

The current value today of $54 million paid equally over the next 6 years at an annual 8% interest rate is $42 million. At 5% interest it is $46 million. Why would he accept $32-35 million?

Does Brian Kelly get it since according to LSU he was still the coach? Or does Frank Wilson get it since he was introduced by LSU as the interim coach and actually coached the game?
This is very important as it will directly impact Brian Kelly’s winning percentage.

I think the powers that be are meeting first thing every morning bouncing ideas off of each other on how to make things worse. Pure incompetence can’t explain it at this point. Brian Kelly and hundreds of lawyers will never have to work another day in their life once this is all over.
