USC is one of the media darlings, and the SEC is already very well represented in the top 25.

Not saying it’s right, but that’s probably why.

Star power transfers at skill positions, a dynamic new coach and a much weaker schedule then SEC teams have

Add to it that the media NEEDS them to be good and are still pouting that lsu took ND’s coach

You are right, but

If initial rankings factor in strength of schedule, they shouldn’t drop a team when a loss occurs.

That’s a double ding for a loss.

Most of the sports writers live west of the Mississippi River. It’s always been like that

Coming out of HS, Daniels was ranked just as high as a dual threat QB.

LSU did quite well in the transfer portal itself. Replenishing the roster, same as USC.

USC won the transfer market. They got the Biletnikoff winner Jordan Addison and QB Caleb Williams. Those 2 in Riley's scheme can easily win 10+ games in the PAC-12 despite a poor defense. They go 7-5 in the SEC west, but they don't play in the SEC west...LSU does though. That's the difference!

Nothing. It gives the west coast a place to hang their hat.

Easier path to be relevant this year Extremely talented QB The media loves Lincoln Riley because he’s all offense. The media is also desperate for USC to be relevant.

Bingo. When people though Riley was coming to LSU everyone pointed out how his teams were soft and he got his arse kicked in the playoffs.

Riley goes to usc and he’s the best thing going.

We can all figure it out. It is what it is.

So let me get this straight...

USC has not been relevant for over a decade. They get Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma and suddenly they are a top 15 football team?

Their last 4 recruiting classes were, 2019-20th, 2020-63rd, 2021-7th, and 2022-70th. By comparison LSU's last 4 were, 2019-5th, 2020-4th, 2021-3rd, and 2022-12th.

USC went 4-8 last year and got blown out in all of their losses except BYU where lost 35-31. They lost to the likes of Cal, BYU, Oregon State, and Stanford. They gave up 62 points to UCLA, and lost by 30

LSU's played 7 top 25 opponents in their last 8 games last year and was respectable in all of those games.

I sincerely think that if these two team played right now, LSU would completely dominate USC. If USC played LSU's 2021 schedule, they would have went 2-8.

What am I missing?
the best team in the Pac is supposed to be Utah. Have you looked at the line on the Utah/Florida game? Watch that game and see why they expect USC to win 9-10 games after Riley came over there with that goldmine of transfers.
