I remember when it used to be just the biggest games on ABC, NBC, Fox, and CBS…

We can’t let the networks make it seem like games are big when they really aren’t

There’s nothing better they can put on?

I'd rather have Prime pay to nationally televise Troy State FB games than them paying for another god damned real housewives show

This thread almost guarantees it will be a highly-watchable game.

Watched an E60 episode about Penn State/Sandusky the other day. How those sick homosexuals in Happy Valley are allowed to have a football program is beyond me. Evidence was overwhelming that Paterno not only knew what was going on but facilitated it by continuing to allow Sandusky access to football buildings. Hope Paterno is enjoying hell. What a sicko he was.

Why are you complaining about football on a Thursday night? ESPN took Pitt-West Virginia so this is the next biggest game tonight. It's a major conference game to kick off the first real weekend for college football. Nothing wrong with having something on instead of nothing.

Look at the schedule of games and tell me which one you would rather see. Considering it’s a Thursday, the slate of games tonight is pretty good.

For the OP, today was the most significant day of his life, and only Purdue/Penn State.

For the rest of us, it was a Thursday.

I mean other than the Backyard Brawl which is on ESPN, its the next best game on today. No one's strapping you to the couch and prying your eyes open forcing you to watch it Clockwork Orange style. Just don't watch it

This thread is a prime example of just how spoiled we have become to sports entertainment, and also an indication of why it becomes easier to lose interest.

I'm old enough to remember MLB being the game of the week on Saturday or Monday Night Baseball, and that was it. I grew up listening on the radio.

TBS and WGN were the first taste of daily baseball.

Human nature can be broken down to the Eddie Murphy joke about eating Saltine crackers and then getting your first Ritz

Penn St vs Purdue? Baaaaaa humbug

Give me Alabama vs Georgia or I'm not watching

Fox got the game in return for Joe Buck from espn. No joke. I think fox got the better end of that trade.

Don't get why you're upset about a pretty decent Thursday night matchup getting a national broadcast. Give me the college football all day and all night and I'll watch.

NBC is reportedly about to give up it's 10pm timeslot so it can pay for this new Big Ten contract. Sports is the only thing the big networks have left, so enjoy it.

Well if the entire SEC didn't schedule dogshite to start the season every fricking year for the last 30 years...then maybe you'd have something to gripe about.

Notre Dame for 30 years would start the year with Michigan.

On Sept. 3rd they start the year with Ohio State.

While Alabama opens with Utah State, Ole Miss opens with Troy, South Carolina opens with Georgia (great!) - oh wait, that's fricking Georgia State (there's a fricking Georgia State?) Auburn opens with Mercer (which I think is a Nunnery), TAMU opens with Sam Houston (not to be confused with Davey Crockett University) and Vandy is taking a vacation to Hawaii to start the season.

People bitch about having no football for months, then when it's finally here people are still bitching. Amazing
