leasing is for fools.
Hardly. Fools are financing trucks for 84 months now. It will be long out of warranty and any repairs to modern cars costs a fortune. You lease in full bumper to bumper warranty almost 3 times in 84 months...
ETA: based on a 30 month lease

I have a 2001 Honda sedan as my 2nd car when I drive to Atlanta or any pro ball game instead of my nice vehicle. 9mm pistol is attached to a magnet under the steering wheel just in case I need it. Honda has over 345,000 miles on it. I'm the only owner in the history of the vehicle.

I am in the market for a cheap used vehicle for my kid in the next few years so I've been looking around.
I cannot believe what old Toyotas and Hondas are going for with 150k+ miles on them. I've got a bad case of sticker shock and am gonna have to get lucky or plan this very well over the next couple years.
No kidding. I have an 01 Camry with 130k. It was my mom's car and I kept it when she passed. Most of those miles are mine. I see similar vintage Camry's going for $6k...for a 21-year-old car? It's a pretty boring car, but it rides decent, gets decent mileage, and is very dependable.

Talk to your insurance agent.
In high theft neighborhoods, a stick shift might be the way to go.
We found than a Cougar and Tbird were built on the same frame, similar costs but the Cougar would cost us $1000 less a year in insurance because Tbirds (same engine even) had more wrecks, etc. We would never have guessed that.

You are putting thousands down and perpetually walk away with no value oh by the way limited to ridiculously low usages

Nissan sentra is the best cheap car out there. Bar none if buying new. I think you can lease one pretty cheap. I would never lease. Seems like a waste of money to me
Posted on 7/21/22 at 7:56 pm to athenslife101
So not buy anything with a CVT transmission so Mazda or mid 2000 Camry or accord

Big fan of the cheap Hyundai.
The Hyundai Accent is a cheap car that runs well and doesn’t look awful. If you look up the word “car” in the dictionary it’s basically a Hyundai Accent

You can’t go wrong with a Civic.

Had an Accent. Most uncomfortable seats ever. I'm 6'2" 200. It was giving hip problems because the seats are narrow and have steel structure that was squeezing in on my hips. Switched to a Chevy Sonic Turbo and am much happier. Seats are fine and I can actually pass people on the interstate without fearing the engine is going to explode.

Hyundai Accent. The resale with 20000 miles is almost the same price as new

After a bit of research I have come to the conclusion that the best car is the Toyota Corolla especially if buying a car built after 2013. Corolla has been on the road longer than any other car and if after 2013 it’s because Toyota is the only maker that builds a reliable CVT transmission
