If you're gonna play in Texas, do you still need to have a fiddle in the band?

That line never made sense to me, followed by:

That steel guitar is hot
But not for a Louisiana man

They’re referencing the Doug Kershaw song Louisiana Man.

There’s no “a”

If you're in a fiddle contest and a band of demons join in, is that cheating?

Whose side do they join in on?

This is important information before I determine if it's cheating.

If it doesn’t have a fiddle or steel guitar it isn’t country music.

Banjos? Eh they’re ok in small doses. Little too hillbilly otherwise.

Many bands in Texas back then had fiddles but I also think it was a reference to Bob Wills beacuse they sing "rosin up that bow for Faded Love and lets all dance"

Great band. They put out some damn good music.

If you don’t turn it up and sing along when “Mountain Music” comes on, you need to move to California.
