If anyone is truly so strapped for cash that these increases are breaking the bank, then they should probably consider the below:

quote:

fresh vegetables are estimated to have a 1%-2% jump in prices, the smallest prediction of any foods.

Not really for every day foods. We shop at Wal Mart for that. Our issue is certain foods just not being stocked. So we adjust to that. We used to go to Central Market for higher quality cuts of meat once in a while. Not now.

The milk we buy is over $5. My wife doesn't like the store brand.

probably one of the few products where "names" v. generic doesn't matter, or at least it was when I kept up with that kind of shite

Very difficult to find locally. At least edible stuff.

Steak. I used to have it twice a week, but it's over 15 dollars a pound in Denver a lot of the time.

Been tweaking the purchases around this but still eating pretty darn well keeping around $10 per pound for the higher quality meals.

Shucks, got a killer tri tip and shrimp this week instead of ribeye.

Picked up a cheap pork loin - don’t think it was up in price at all from a few years back and could feed a crowd. Will turn into a couple small roasts and some chops

Not looking forward to it going much further but the pain is still pretty manageable outside of a few spots where you just have to take the hit

I been getting fresh eggs from my brother in law who has chickens.

Only get what we need. Have always gotten vegetables from people who grow gardens and have too much.

The thing that sucks is if one store is out of something then you go somewhere else and the price is higher there than where you normally get it.

Example, I eat yogurt every day. Walmart sells it for $0.59 a piece. One day they were out. Went to Rouses and they were selling them for $0.99. I only bought two and waiting for walmart to get some more in. When they did they were selling them for $0.69 and Rouses was having a "special". 2 for $0.99.

I bought ground beef for the first time in a month. Was at Winn Dixie they mislabeled it as chicken legs, $2.19 a pound. Been eating a lot of pork and chicken lately.

Pretty sure I’d be a millionaire within 5 years if I quit buying paper towels

We mostly do Fresh Market and Robert, with a sprinkling of Sprouts. Robert is the most noticeable jump by far. I assume because it is locally owned and can't absorb the costs as well as Sprouts and Fresh Market.

Fresh Market used to be the fancy people store, but their prices are about the norm everywhere now.

Lump crabmeat
Pint containers of raw oysters
Beef, unless it's on sale

Still buy it, but toilet paper and paper towels are getting stupid priced for what it is.

Even at Costco, a 30 pack of Charmin is close to $25 with tax added in and Brawny Paper towels are not far behind for a 12 pack.

People have been talking about how expensive steak is. Living in a small town where Walmart is my only option, red meat is one thing that hasn’t increased in price very much. It had gone up to close to 20, I stopped buying it for a while but it has gone back down to around 12.50, which is what it has been for a couple years and it hasn’t varied in a while.

One thing I won’t buy is chicken, that’s gone through the roof. Chicken breasts used to be 1.99 a pound and now it has more than doubled. I’ll buy the bagged quarters and use them for gumbo or chicken and rice or whatever else.

Another is beef jerky. I fricking love beef jerky and it has always been pricey, but I went to grab a bag the other day and it was $18 bucks. frick all that. I’ll buy a dehydrator.
