WILTON MANORS — The six college students who overdosed on fentanyl-laced cocaine Thursday in Wilton Manors have been identified as football players at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
They were in town for Spring Break, renting a house in Wilton Manors that would become the scene of a desperate attempt to save lives.

After using the drug, at least two cadets went immediately into cardiac arrest. Two students who hadn’t taken the drug tried to give their friend mouth-to-mouth and received enough fentanyl that way to suffer overdoses themselves.

West Point issued a statement Friday afternoon acknowledging what happened and saying the academy was looking into it.

“The U.S. Military Academy is aware of the situation involving West Point cadets, which occurred Thursday night in Wilton Manors, FL,” said a statement from the academy’s public affairs office. “The incident is currently under investigation and no other details are available at this time.”

I think only one of the six was a football player.

That’s got to be deadlier than rat poison.

It was 6 cadets, one of which was a football player. There was also a female in the house who was hospitalized as well.

2 of the cadets remain hospitalized in critical condition

They have also supposedly made an arrest in the case, but details aren’t out there yet. Guessing it was the cadet that bought the cocaine

Not for nothing but Wilton Manors is where the Broward school board member took the elementary school kids on a field trip to the gay bar recently

Someone explain this to me like I’m 5. Why in the frick would a drug dealer lace his stash with something deadly? You’re not getting repeat customers if you keep fricking killing them. WTF? Are these people drug dealers or serial killers?

All six doing their lines at exactly the same time? Otherwise you see what happens to the first guy and I doubt you're going to repeat it.

I find this part hard to believe. To my knowledge an opioid overdose from fentanyl doesn't happen from being in direct contact with another person or even the drug itself.

Edit: I haven't changed anything from above will clarify my statement that an overdose via direct skin contact from fentanyl is extremely unlikely, unlike inhalation or injection.

I'm so glad I'm not a kid these days. The worst we ever had to worry about was getting mda instead of mdma.

Drugs have won the war on drugs, yet our government keeps pointlessly fighting. Just awful.
