Our H&M leather sofa was in the $4k price range delivered. It will last us 30 years easy. It is full grain leather, not the embossed crap most sofas are made of and its not leather match, it has the good leather everywhere.
Sure, it was expensive but it is a good value in the long run. Wife got a costco sofa in your price range last year for another room and the thing is uncomfortable and is falling apart already.

That was the plan, never have to replace this set. We got the sofa, chair and ottoman.
If you want good stuff that lasts get in touch with Dwayne at the keeping room. He carries Hancock and Moore, Bradinton-Young and Taylor King for sofas that will last. He is in Virginia but has the cheapest prices in the country even after shipping and no tax for us stuck with a 9.95% sales tax....

The truth about furniture.
You can cheap out and definitely get something that will fall apart inside of 2 years. Or You can spend a lot and probably still get something that will fall apart in 2 years.

Always look under the cushions. The more springs the better, regardless of what type of spring. But in my opinion, even better than springs, are the straps made of the same material they make seatbelts out of.
Always flip the furniture over and check the wood. If it's plywood, NEVER buy it if it's less than 9 layers. 13 layers is preferable. Again... NEVER buy it if its less than 9 layer plywood. I've seen furniture that looked like it was built with plywood from lowes.
Also, avoid wood that's screwed together, other than places where screws are the only option (such as attaching it to metal). You want the wood jointed together in as many places as possible.

Best Chair makes some decent stuff. Flex Steel is pretty well made to.

We have a very old Mitchell Gold leather chair and ottoman. I picked it up from an estate sale 5 or 6 years ago. Love estate sales and consignment shops for great high end furniture.

Well, there is the answer to why your couch is sitting on the curb destroyed.

Yes it is junk. Save up and spend extra.
I love stuff from King Hickory. Bernhardt for bedroom stuff
Recently saw a sofa we liked and purchased It wasn’t super expensive. Made by Rowe. It is twice the quality and comfort of the crap we bought from Havertys

Our kids have already destroyed a $3,500 sofa from room and board. Took about 8 months for them to do that.

What sofa comes in a box? I think I found your problem
Having worked inventory control at a major furniture store, I can tell you several of the best brands came in boxes. Flexsteel is one of the more reliable brands and their heavy-duty power reclining sofas came in boxes.

Bought a new sofa about 3 months ago. Nothing crazy. Small sofa and paid about $1200 for about 6 ft. It was still in the box when I got it in my place. 3 months later, it’s completely broken and disconnected in every internal 1/10th inch piece of wood it’s skeleton is built with. Junk.
This should be covered under manufacture warranty if only 3 months... Unless they deemed you didn't take care of it and it's your fault.

Also pissed that it’s going to be 3 more months before we even get it.
Last thing I got on the furniture subject that most people don't know. If the store you buy furniture from ordered your one sofa and one loveseat from overseas, they would pay X price shipping and get it here faster. However, most furniture places will project how long it will take to get here being months out because they will buy a full Container at a much cheaper shipping rate of Y. So while it won't get here fast, the container will have like 30 sofas, 30 loveseats, 30 ottomans, etc. Etc. On that container, they will have all their special order stuff as well like your sofa and loveseat. So they have cheap stock to keep in their warehouses, and the expensive stuff coming in to go straight out to customer. This is why most companies won't let you just bring back a special ordered fabric or leather upholstery. They don't keep those in stock and it would just sit in a warehouse. They mostly only keep the cheaper shite in stock that they plan to run promotions on for holiday events and such.
TLDR: When they say it takes six months to get it in, it's cause they are filling containers and not shipping piece by piece.
As for the American Made stuff, they order parts from overseas as well. Just like "American" made appliances.
