Pottery Barn

Yeah, I do a lot of shopping at their sister store West Elm. Everything I've gotten has been really great quality. My new dining set is solid as hell, area rug is hand woven, etc.

Yeah.

I will say.. I ordered my dining set and it was "in stock" so it took no time at all. In fact, they email you to schedule the appointment to deliver/assemble it, and I was the one who delayed it because it was ready immediately and I was going on vacation.

But the store we ordered our sectional from (Town and Country) told us 7 month minimum when we walked in the door. We are on month 8 and the manufacturer told them another month last we heard.

Quality furniture I have owned: Henredon & Bernhardt

Very solid and Henredon stuff is from my parents from the 80s. Rock solid and very well made.

Owned an expensive couch and a king bed from Pottery Barn. The couch was an L shaped sectional from 2006 and very comfortable. Was $4,200 or so. Wood frame wasn't very solid/supported and cracked after a few years. The bed was nice, but made of soft wood and had chips/divots all over it after a while. I like their designs a lot, but I think it is pretty cheaply made IMO.

I’m in the market now for new living room furniture and I don’t know a damn thing about it. I’ve mostly had old furniture that was cheap for most of my life and am willing to spend some cash for a quality product, but I don’t even know where to start.

I feel like a female in a transmission shop.

TLDR: When they say it takes six months to get it in, it's cause they are filling containers and not shipping piece by piece.

I own a furniture store. This is not true. Any special order furniture or container orders are taking 6 to 8 months. The back log of orders is astronomical at the moment. The industry has never seen anything like it before. Shortages of foam and fabric have been a major problem along with an increase in orders and labor shortages. Stores aren't just making up arbitrary delivery timelines. Most of my manufacturers at the moment are at a minimum of 6 months with a more likely delivery timeframe of 8 months.
