I’ve read a lot of books in this genre - time travel back into the Cretaceous. Always an enjoyable read and a fantasy scenario for many. I mean, who doesn’t like dinosaurs?

Chose mountains that are well forested in a tropical zone.

With rocks,, you can make fire. With tropics, you won't freeze to death. You'll have shade when you need it.

Maybe a tropical offshore island, birds eggs, clams, (blech sea cucumbers), west coast of a continental land mass so there's lots of intertidal food to scavange.

Sort of sounds like Hawaii.

Those mountains will have fresh water, the forests will have birds and maybe sloths.
There are no grasslands, won't exist until the Eocene.
Disosaurs, the big meat eaters, have centers of inertia that are not good for climbing mountains.

You might surprise yourself. Find a cave, some fresh water, some sharp rocks. Make a spear, make a net catch a fish or two, you might be able to hang on for weeks or even months.

Only a matter of minutes. The late Cretaceous period atmosphere was not suitable for mammals. Temperature, oxygen levels, etc.
