NEW YORK (NewsNation Now) — A nationwide search is on after a couple set off on their dream cross-country road trip and only one of them came back.
According to police, it has been three weeks since Gabby Petito’s family last heard from her. The 22-year-old embarked on a trip from Long Island, New York, with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, at the beginning of July.
The couple documented most of the trip in a YouTube video called “VAN LIFE.” The video shows the couple laughing, kissing, cooking out of their van and enjoying moments of quiet time as they make their way to national park stops in places like Kansas, Colorado, and Utah.
Petito is now reported missing under suspicious circumstances and last known to be in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park. In a press release, police say Petito’s family last heard from their daughter the last week of August and reported her missing on Sept. 11.
Her parents are telling other media outlets Laundrie is back home, lawyered up and not talking.
The Suffolk County Police Department told NewsNationNow.com they could not comment on Laundrie or his whereabouts. His social media pages have gone silent and he has yet to make a public plea or statement.
According to authorities, the 2012 Ford Transit the pair was traveling in has been recovered in North Port, Florida, where Laundrie reportedly is.
The North Port Police Department said in a statement Monday there is no definitive information that a crime took place, but “the circumstances are odd.”
Apparently they found the van at the boyfriend's parents house...

this morning it was announced:
North Port, FL police say they have no plans to "conduct a major search" at Carlton Reserve for Brian Laundrie today.
That's where they focused the search over the weekend.
The department also says all media interviews are on hold until further notice.

His Father and stepmother may be the ones living at that house. His Mother and Stepfather live somewhere?

Jessica Schultz, a graphic designer and traveler, tells the San Francisco Chronicle that she contacted the FBI following an encounter in late August with a white van in the area where the body believed to be Gabby Petito’s was found Sunday.
Schultz says the van was traveling slowly down a one-lane road near Spread Creek and that she was forced to go off-road to get around it. When she passed, she says she looked at the van and saw a white male driving it by himself – which she now believes was Brian Laundrie.
“I’m pretty sure he got out of the van to like look around or something,” Schultz said.
The next two days, the van remained in the same area but no one could be seen around it, Schultz added.
On Sunday, before the human remains were found in the vicinity, an FBI agent told Schultz that “I’ve talked to hundreds of people, but you guys are the ones that really tipped us off to the right place, so thank you,’” she recalled.

While the situation is suspicious you can’t assume he killed her. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got left somewhere without her phone. Abandoning someone doesn’t mean you killed them even though it’s a piece of shite thing to do.
