He may face a lot of charges by the time this is over. Possibly murder, kidnapping, hindering prosecution, and lying to authorities. A veritable "Laundrie list", if you will...

If he is being charged for murder....what's one more charge?

He's got a winning playbook with lawyering up. No body, no evidence, and nothing online that he has to talk about. Why allow investigators to talk you into a compromised position?

As a father, I'd certainly be planning on doing the things government can't do to bring about justice.

Before even being contacted by the police? That looks guilty AF bro.

Lol. If someone you were last seen with on a cross country road trip living in a van goes missing, it would be wise to call an attorney before the police call you.

And it would be wise to say nothing to the police if contacted.

Hypothetically if you’re him and innocent, do you not instantly recognize that this looks bad for you and you’re going to have to defend yourself? Also if he’s innocent he’s clearly not able to make good decisions on his own, so definitely needs a lawyer.

Only if youre a piece of shite.

If she went missing, his responsibility is to help find her.

he didn't do that. She's not missing.

The problem lies in the question, why didn't the BF report her missing to police/Park Rangers before her parents got involved?

Yeah, there possibly could be a more complicated story of what happened, but the facts absolutely point to this guy murdering her. Any sane, rational, innocent person would have at the very least either reported her missing/an accident, or told her friends/family that they got in a fight and she left him/they separated. Not just coming on back to Florida with their van, and not saying anything about her whereabouts while she is incommunicado.

While the situation is suspicious you can’t assume he killed her. I wouldn’t be surprised if she got left somewhere without her phone. Abandoning someone doesn’t mean you killed them even though it’s a piece of shite thing to do.

Not having your phone is something that might keep you from contacting people for a day or two at worst so long as you are in a populated area.

Also, if you left somebody in the middle of nowhere with no way to get help and they die then you absolutely are responsible for their death.

I hated her character but that scene really bothered me.
He killed her like a dog.

I didn't hate her character. I kind of pitied her, but I liked her as a character.

Maybe she was not missing to him. Maybe she left him to go with others.

Talking to the police will not benefit you as a suspect, even if you know you’re innocent.

Then all he had to do was say that to the parents and cops.

If he didn't do anything and she went off with other people telling the cops so they could look for her does you no harm.

Lawyering up and going silent isn't going to help him in the long run. It's just going to cause the cops to focus on him and only him.

So he returned all the way home, and her parents had to report her missing? That is definitely suspicious.

Perhaps maybe they went on a drug binge. They had an argument and she decided she wanted to stay with her new crack-dealing boyfriend in bumfrick Montana somewhere.

He knows where she's at but is too embarrassed of their bad deeds together.

Contrary to popular belief on the OT. The majority of people dont really give a shite about tattoos. It's not like chicks are losing out on attention from guys from getting a tattoo or two.

And in the process of doing so, he could make incriminating statements that can be used against him. His words can and will be taken out of context to meet narratives.

“Any lawyer worth his salt will tell [a] suspect in no uncertain terms to make no statement to police under any circumstances.” So said Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson.

I don't really buy the "they were on drugs" aspect of this. Besides probably smoking/eating weed, there really isn't anything to indicate that they are druggies. Its not like you are going to be scoring meth in camping in the middle of nowhere in a national park/forest.

There is a thread about this on r/van life. Apparently the boyfriend layered up ASAP and won't talk to police.
