re: Urban Meyer was never an OC, let that sink in

Huh? Ole Miss had a much better record before O came in. What are you talking about???
please read the list of coaches and their win and loss % before O and then rethink what you said.
Ole Miss was stupid to fire Cutcliffe when they did. While they underperformed his last year, the expectations for Ole Miss by their boosters was absurd.
They hired O with no experience as a head coach to a P5 job.
They were a mess and that was a huge problem.
Meyer is a great coach and took over a small school program where he got to learn to be a HC. He is an amazing story and not someone I compare O to in that regard.
Swinney was already entrenched in a system at Clemson where he'd been an assistant for 6 years prior to taking over as HC. He took over a team that was under performing but was at least stable and maintaining much of its staff.
I am not saying O is even a reasonable candidate. I think he is somewhere down the line unless he proves himself by winning the SEC this year. He has to do something extraordinary to remove the negativity from his time at Ole Miss, but he did start that in his time as interim at USC and could do so here.
The point was that O was never ready to be a head coach at Ole Miss. He treated being HC like he treated his position as DL coach. It doesn't work.
He has to have changed and hopefully he proves that with LSU winning out. We'll see what happens though and he is not a top candidate in my mind.

O is 9-2 in his last 11 games at USC and LSU. That's success in my book.
Interim success. Does it tell us how he runs the team long term?

There have been, I believe, 2 head coaches at ole miss to finish their tenures over .500 in the SEC over the last 40-50 years. Cutcliff and Freeze at the moment. Don't act like he was just primed for success there
I don't hear anyone arguing that Ole Miss is Florida or Georgia. But he made it worse than Vanderbilt.

Don't act like there isn't middle ground between "primed for success," and historically bad.

So Cutcliff and freeze need to be ahead of O in the hiring process. Got it.
First off- take some reading comprehension courses.
Secondly- the point was that in almost 50 years, only 2 coaches have had even average success there. Yes, O did terrible and it was mostly his fault, but he didn't crash and burn at an easy job.

What's ur concern on his ability to long term run a team? Specifically please.

O did struggle at Ole Miss, but did something right in that he brought in enough talent to have Nutt come in right away and win two cotton bowls in his first two years with O's talent.
That said, O's problem wasn't bringing in talent, but managing it once there. He seems to have improved in that aspect as seen by his time at USC and so far at LSU.

His ONLY succes in an HC position is at the interim level. If he has potential why wouldn't syracuse hire him? Really, i just don't understand that logic.

Syracuse didn't wanna take that chance maybe? I don't understand why you people are so concerned with the decisions of other schools. Who gives a shite what other schools decide.
How many schools gave Jacob Hester an offer?

In fact, he was all set to go to Texas but Saban talked him out of it.

The only time he did run a program long term he failed miserably. That's y concern. An interim HC job doesn't prove you can manage a program for the long haul.

So far at LSU is a joke to argue. He has run up the score on bad teams. We did that last year as well. Have people forgotten how well positioned LSU was for a NC seven games into last year? Entering this year?
If you look at his results at USC a fair minded person would also notice they were pretty average for the talent there and the expected results. The team won a close game at home to a very good Stanford team, but lost at home by three scores to UCLA and lost a close game at a good but not great (9-4) Notre Dame team.
Three games against worthwhile opponents, and he lost two of them. That is not an argument for above average management. This is not to say he couldn't take a job somewhere and demonstrate that he has improved. But he should do this if he wants the opportunity to be a head coach.

I graduated LSU in accounting. They didn't require it so i skipped it. Lol.

Right, but what makes LSU an easy job? I mean if he couldn't perform better than freeze as HC of ole miss what makes you feel he is the better coach?
I know you are likely thinking "we just smashed ole miss, what is the drunk talking about???" My point being if Orgeron would have been on the ole miss side and freeze on the LSU side, players the same, i believe you would want freeze as HC.
Lsu is an easy job RIGHT NOW. I mean all O had to do was step aside and let coaches coach and players perform to their best abilities, but What happens when we need someone in crunch time, when we lose great DCs and OCs, when half our team leaves for the NFL?
Could coach O keep the ship afloat? His time at Ole Miss is the only information i have to judge those questions, and it doesn't seem promising.
Eta: if it is coach o who gets the job and he proves me wrong over the next three or four years i will gladly admit i am wrong, and next time i am in BR I got your first beer before the game.
I won't be someone constantly rooting against our HC. I WANT us to be the best! I feel like other options out there give us a better shot at that is all. Sorry if my sarcasm is a little thick sometimes. Nothing personal. We just don't see eye to eye on who is the best man for the job.

He was also a HC at 37 and came up with his own offense.

You must be in the start Romo camp. No matter what Coach O does you will continue to move goal posts in what ever debate is happening.

The mental gymnastics the O fan boys are using is amazing

I actually hate the cowboys and romo. Instead of thinking you're being witty and smart, why don't you answer my question.
Doea interim success prove a coach is ready to run a program for the long haul? Especially when that coach failed at it before?
Maybe this is a better way to ask: name me all the coaches that were successful as interim coaches and had continued success as a perm HC. Should be a one name list, but maybe i missed someone besides dabo.
It's a legitamite question when searching for a perm coach.
Eta: if you think he has "proven" something by beating teams were already favored to beat perhaps you need to have your head examined. "Proving" something would START with Bama.
