I think the main problem with O is that his record would indicate he's not a very good HC.

His supporters think they can couple the fact that he wasn't a coordinator with guys like Meyer and Harbaugh, but he relinquished his right to be included in that group when he fell flat on his face at OM.

Now if you can find me a DL coach that never coordinated a defense, failed miserably at his first HC job and crushed it at his second full time HC job, then you'll have a better case for Coach O because at least then there will be precedent.

i'm not using outlier cases to make a selection. i'm taking his past into consideration but also considering what he is doing now. if i'm looking at a resume that's typically what i do anyway - i give heavier weight to your more recent experience.


i haven't made a decision (as if it's even mine or yours to make) but i haven't written him off yet either.

Other than Fisher nobody notable was on that staff.

Mickey Andrews was like Bowden himself by 2008- way too old to be coaching.
