I think this still plays a part in his future....if my recollection is correct, this broke during fall camp didn't it?

UM can't like being in the NCAA's crosshairs and I assume its an embarrassment to the administration.

I doubt that. I think RR is gone. If he were going to be retained that announcement could have been made at any point. However, that extra $1.5 mil can come in handy.

They may end up with Harbaugh, but something tells me that his NFL aspirations couls scuttle that deal. Given that their AD seems to be an independent sort, I would not be surprised if neither Miles nor Harbaugh were on his radar, although I give strong odds to one of those men being HC by 1/2/11.

If a coach like Miles or Harbaugh, were considering UM they would not want a word of it breathed until after the bowls.

Michigan probably learned their lesson last time.

If we play in the Cotton Bowl, which is Jan 7, UM is gonna be waiting for quite some time.

As usual, you have your facts wrong.

Saban announced on 12/25 that he was leaving for the Dolphins. The Cap One Bowl was on 1/1.

As usual, you nitpick.

I knew that Saban announced on Christmas. I watched.

But the overall point was that by waiting so late, it cost LSU the chance to get other big name coaches.

But you knew that, you just wanted to be a dick, which you are good at.

When they courted Miles before the bowl game last time look where it got them. He backed out and here they are back at square one. I think they are waiting for the money but also because the coaches they want have a significant financial investment in playing in their bowl games. Most will get a significant bonus for winning or coaching the post Jan 1 bowl game. Also Miles and Harbaugh aren't going anywhere else so if these are their top 2 candidates then they can wait. Harbaugh will either go to UM or NFL after the NFL season. No else that matters has the good to attract Miles but UM.

I think Miles would let the administration/AD know of his plans

That's how we wound up with Miles - Saban took off late in the game.

We could have gotten Spurrier if Saban had announced he was leaving sooner. Spurrier took the SC job about two weeks earlier. Spurrier would have crawled to BR for the LSU job. That would have been a match made in heaven. I'll never forgive Saban for that.

Spurrier is past his prime now and he was past his prime in late 2004/early 2005 as well.

Yeah, I know he's in the SEC Championship game....blah blah..

yeah, but Skip hated Nick Saban and his ego. Skip wanted to hire someone that would listen to him and do what he said. Let's hope that our current AD is more concerned with hire the best coach possible and not let his ego get in the way.
