Besides the obvious (that he was just at LSU and was a good DC):

He's basically the exact opposite of Ed O and Les Miles. He is a very very intelligent, thoughtful, relatively quiet guy. He isn't a larger than life character, he is a football coach that is highly competent. He will not embarrass the program, and he likely always have at the very least, competent, disciplined football teams with well thought out gameplans.

I think Aranda would be a home run hire. So of course we'll screw that up and settle for someone else.

Yep.

I don't want a caricature as a head coach, never did.

He’s an outstanding DC, like Saban and Smart, that’s why I am interested.

He’s exactly what we need. Unfortunately the hire would make too much sense. And he’s not dark enough of a minority to be considered by Tate.

He is one of the few names that have been suggested that I would love to see.
Great win against BYU this week.
I really hope he can beat either UT or OU. If he wins both, he will probably be THE top target.

LSU fans in every sport always throw out the name of the last guy who was here.

this should carry a lot of weight after the last 15 years, and why i think kiffin is out.

baylor needs a strong finish to the season though for him to get in contention. i am rooting for him.

Les and Ed had large personalities that were often more fun to watch than the teams they coached. It may be refreshing to have a guy who seems above that kind of grandiosity. In the end, though it should be about results on the field, not personalities.

This is true but he is more than just a good DC. He has been a great DC for a long time and is currently a very successful Power 5 HC.

Sounds good to me. I think the only question with Aranda is his ability to recruit.

And no detail is left to chance with any of these guys. No opportunity wasted to move the program forward at all levels.

We rag on Kirby for a lot, but he’s establishing a powerhouse in UGA.

Yep. The more I think about it, Aranda would be an absolute homerun hire. He checks nearly every box.

That still doesn't keep me from hoping we get a Peterson or Fickell, but Aranda would be very welcomed.

Yeah this is what's upsetting to me. "He's pushing for a minority hire" but he's really just pushing for a black hire. Ironically, Aranda would be the ultimate minority in the locker room. Not many Mexican Americans in there.

On the other hand it's about 90% black. But yeah... diversity. Minority.
