He’s an outstanding DC, like Saban and Smart, that’s why I am interested.

What do you base this on? If you look at defensive rankings, overall his defenses got worse at lsu.

Not bashing, just maybe I am missing something.

I wouldn't say that's definite, but it's possible. Worth taking a shot.

Aranda is my choice.

question with Aranda is his ability to recruit.

It’s really not that hard to recruit at LSU. Our problem has never been talent.

If you watch football and understand what you are seeing, this is a very lazy form of analysis.

His defenses statistically in 2018 were not superb, but they were excellent down the stretch. They basically shut down the best teams in football down the stretch.

I feel like I have amnesia... Wasn't this board trashing Aranda and wanting him gone for his poor Defense not too many seasons ago?

I think Aranda would be a home run hire

Agreed

So of course we'll screw that up and settle for someone else.

Coach Aranda was called The Professor. Coach O the Shrimp Boat Captain..and I am not mocking him in that context at all. But there is a different persona in the two. He was no recruiter at LSU, and I may be mistaken, he was not called on to leave his office: recruits were brought in to his office.

Would love a really good normal solid coach like Ryan Day, Lincoln Riley, Aranda, Napier. Tired of it always being a freak show or some insane personality. I don’t care what anyone says Saban is a douche and has a napoleon complex.

Why do you think he is a homerun hire?

I do wonder if he sees himself on the west coast.

I think he’s a sneaky candidate for the USC job. He wouldn’t be their 1st choice, but ai bet he’s on their radar.

I remember more than just a handful of threads and posts about Dave Aranda being overrated.

I liked the guy his entire time, the "decline" was due to the quickly changing nature of college football to more offensive firepower.

The 2019 defense had fun and was the last one to play with speed and abandon. After the Ole Miss game it was lights out.

I’ve been saying aranda from the start should be #2 behind Fickell

Aranda was a home run hire in 2016 for DC, helped us win an NC and always seemed to have fan support. He went and got some HC experience and seems to be doing well in that position. He always seemed well prepared.

The only knock you can really have on the guy is lack of HC experience, but here we are looking for one. HC experience can bring questions as well.

Are we forgetting how much LSU fans wanted Aranda gone the year before 2019 and how even in the championship year he was constantly under fire from fans for the defense allowing big plays (think Ole Miss game)

Aranda just like Saban doesn’t feel the need to rah, rah you. Because he knows how to win.
