Stoops is a good coach. I would’ve been fine with hiring him, had it happened. But personal preference was a Elko because he seems like a younger, more dynamic version.

Both are tough, physical minded coaches. Elko did a great job with a A&M Defense previously, so he was a natural top target.

Elko is basically the 2015/16 version of Mark Stoops… successful major program DC who is having marginal success as a HC at a blue blood basketball school.

The money UK is paying stoops is outrageous… the man’s really accomplished nothing of any consequence.

Stoops is a solid coach. Biggest problem is he’s never had a marquee win in his decade at UK, and he’s a drunk with a shaky personal life

He comes across as a whiney bitch when he loses, Stoops has peaked as a coach. Has he had any big signature wins aside from upsetting UF every year or beating a couple of the worst Tenn teams in SEC history?

Elko is on the rise, he took that 2-9 dook team and started winning immediately, he changed the culture quick and has those boys playing hardnosed fb. They are a tough out even without their nfl bound QB

disagree. Kentucky football wasn't even a second thought before the last 5-7 years. not amazing, but way more respectable than most of the last couple of decades.

Duke had won 10 games in the three years before Elko took over. They weren’t a good program at the end of Cutcliffe’s tenure.

For some reason I was also incorrectly thinking Cutcliffe went out winning not after 3 losing seasons in a row.

7-5 at duke is like going 7-5 at UK. Except UK plays in a tougher conference
