Yeah sounds like both were pretty bad situations. Which isn’t anything like

After all, he lost his starting QB to injury 3 straight years.

True but like the end of his time at FSU he wouldn’t get rid of the O Line coach who routinely got his QBs annihilated game in and game out

I don’t think it’s a BAD hire, just doesn’t make sense to pay a coach that much money to bring in a hire like this.

I don’t think Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas or any other big time SEC program is worried about A&M hiring Mike Elko. It’s screams mediocre.

I’m just saying.

I know you’re just trying to troll Aggies but acting like Elko is a bad hire is a big-time casual L take

It’s a fine hire.

The difference in reactions is purely because he knows what weirdos he’s gonna be dealing with.

The difference in reactions is because Stoops makes 9 million dollars a year and logic tells us he wasn’t taking a pay cut to take our job, and our fans are sick of our incompetent boosters and AD saddling us to deals we can’t get out of

But facts are irrelevant

He spent 3 seasons as the DC. He’s from New Jersey. It’s not like he is a life long Texas native who has a long tenured background in College Station. He’s in the frying pan now. There will be a ton of pressure on him to win.

Well rumor was that stoops had kingsbury locked up so I’m assuming Elko does as well?

Meh. That’s like chasing Da Joe Brady Offense around. He was very successful and seemingly innovative over a decade ago with star athlete and hasn’t shown any real progression since.

Stoops owes Kentucky $4 million if he leaves, so it’s very possible he would have accepted less

Texas AM covers the buyout for a lesser salary

They were 2-9 and 3-9 his last two seasons lol. Can people not google his record?

I googled their Wiki article, which doesn’t have a straight list of season records. The last two mentioned in the article for Cutcliff were 2016 and 17 for some reason. I didn’t take note of the years.

So yeah, it was even worse than I said. I knew they had dropped off a good bit from his high water mark.

So OP might be a little intellectually dishonest with claiming Elko walked into a much better situation than Stoops?

No. Not OP. He literally never can be described that way

Are you stupid?

Look at the records of Kentucky before stoops took over and Duke before Elko…

5-7 (2-6)
2-10 (0-8)

Duke:
5-7 (3-5)
2-9 (1-9)

Cutcliffe had a good run but it completely fell apart the last three years. Elko didn’t take over a good program. Rich Brooks had a good run at Kentucky, but it cratered under Joker Phillips. Mark Stoops didn’t take over a good program. I don’t know what your issue with my post was.

The fact we’re debating whether A&M’s new coach is better or worse than Mark Stoops is enough. A&M and Kentucky are similar programs with similar coaches.

Kelly accomplished more in his first season in the SEC than you ever have.
