Deboer would be a good choice. But why would he go? He was on the cusp of a NC this year. So he doesn't HAVE to go to Alabama to compete for one. His school is also set to enter the Big 10. So they are in one of the two power conferences. Washington may not pay him as much as Alabama would, but it's not like he's going to be making $15 an hour at UW to coach at a school that loves him and isn't expecting him to play for a NC every year. Whoever Alabama hires will step into maybe the biggest shadow in the history of CFB.

The same applies to Norvell except for one key difference. FSU is not in one of the two power conferences. Thus, they are going to get left further and further behind in further media-rights deals. That's why FSU is trying to get out of the ACC ASAP! Norvell will publicly tell anyone who will listen he wants to be at FSU. But that will just be a negotiating posture to get as much money out of Alabama as possible. If Alabama offers...he's gone!

Yes I was pretty pissed we really have/had no excuse to lose to a Brian Kelly coached LSU team.

Better get acclimated to it.

anyone remember the supposed skeleton in norvell's closet while at memphis? something about gambling and coke

Don’t know about the coke but if there was a hint of gambling he would be blackballed. Neuheisel has been completely blackballed for filling out a basketball bracket.

5:10 p.m., Thursday, Gene -- I received additional confirmation from a strong source that DeBoer is currently Alabama's top target. It's very possible he already has an offer and is mulling it over. That said, we hear that Norvell's agent is also having conversations with both Alabama and Florida State. Should DeBoer fall through for Alabama then things could get dicey with Norvell.

More like he has been blackballed due to his failed coaching stint at UCLA.

He actually won a settlement against the NCAA for their mishandling of the bracket stuff.

The Warchant guys don't know frickin shite. They all crowned Willie Taggart the savior of Florida State because he walked around the entire stadium high fiving and taking pictures with the fans at the spring game

Not sure why they’d hire DeBoer over Norvell. DeBoer is a west coast guy, those guys have a hard time adapting to SEC recruiting

10 a.m., Friday, Gene -- With the report that Mike Norvell is expected to meet with Alabama AD Greg Byrne, all eyes are on FSU's HC to see if this meeting actually takes place. Early indications are that Norvell is currently on FSU's campus preparing for visits from a couple transfer targets. I was informed that if an in-person meeting happens, a likely scenario would be for Byrne to fly into nearby Thomasville, Ga. and the two would meet up there at a private location. Of course, nobody said the meeting had to be in person. As such, it could be virtual so we would probably never know if it actually happened.

Interestingly, it looks like some of the betting sites have pulled down the bet on the Alabama's next head coach.

If Alabama hires him after all of that fsu stuff I would be surprised. But he may be their best option.

The question for Bama is:

Dabo or Norvell? What’s the consensus?

Midwest. He never coached on the West Coast until 3 years ago.

I would take Norvell in a heartbeat. I don't want Dabo at all, he can stay in cock country

Yes, I missed the couple years as OC at Fresno. Doesn't change the point that he's not a "west coast guy."

Out of 26 years in coaching, he's spent 5 on the west coast and 21 in the midwest.
