Also interesting that Verge and Saban were both at LSU from 2001-2004.

Saban is going to take the job he now claims isn’t even as good as Ole Miss. Makes a ton of sense.
It actually makes a lot of sense.. why else would he want other candidates to think more highly of LSU if He wants the job?

Did your source say if Saban was close to making a decision?
He did not...this is also where I told him that I just can't see Saban wanting to get back in the daily grind. He wasn't really sure either way because he's not the decision maker himself. Just in contact with some of the parties involved. Sketchy I know, but as close to any real LSU news as I'll ever get so I posted it.

That would be fine except Verge would be the full time ad and the mcneese guy would be under him.
Does Saban like Verge? Or maybe this would give Saban more direct control over football.
I mean there is enough smoke that they are actually going after Saban. The question is will they be able to convince him.
I don't like Verge ausberry being the full time ad.

Everyone already knows that McNeese's Pres is the next LSU pres and that he wants to take his AD with him if he can
He's taking common knowledge and acting like he has sources
No one has said the part about Verge being the full time ad under that scenario.

You know what? I just remembered someone said that Saban would coach 3 years then move into AD role
Maybe that’s why verge is gonna do the AD job for now.
Makes sense now.
I think it may have been the whispers who posted that

We should have a Hamster Changes Board.

Ask your source who plan B is when Saban inevitably says no. All he’s done since he retired is complain about the current state of college athletics. The guy is wealthy beyond his wildest dreams and has a dream tv gig. You could offer him 200 million for 4 years and I don’t know if he says yes. And he won a championship here already. What business is unfinished? I just don’t see the motivation to return unless he’s been lying on tv and secretly wishes to coach again.

Saban did live in Baton Rouge for a while. He has connections and maybe some friends here. Maybe this was a lock weeks ago.
We already know a wealthy boo$ter paid a large portion of the buyout. What if that same boo$ter told the TAF he would bring the GOAT with him?

Okay…while I don’t think this would EVER happen I’m gonna entertain the idea for a bit.
Verge as AD makes sense. Saban would want a company man who does why Saban tells him to do. Verge fits the bill.
A new president (from a smaller LA school) where a different person runs the day to day as chancellor means a President that is likely out of Sabans way.
It all at least lines up for what Saban would want.
No way in hell it happens…but I can make a case for the behind the scenes stuff

The only unfinished business I could come up with is that maybe he doesn't like that his last coached game was a loss.....very thin reasoning, I agree. Which is what I told my source. Again, he just said they're gunning for Saban. He did not confirm Saban had said yes.
He also did not give word on a plan B.

How recently did he tell you they were still after Saban? You think it could have been old news already? You need to ask your source for an update haha.
Posted on 11/3/25 at 3:20 pm to cajuntiger1010
This is true, but at the same time, I don't think he needs to deter other candidates from taking it since most ADs are going to take Saban over any other candidate regardless of how much interest they have in the job.

.and, drumroll, they want Saban for 3 yrs at a huge price tag with full control of NIL. Saban rights the ship and rides off into the sunset with unfinished business completed and his legacy at 2 schools secured.
And to sweeten the pot, they're going after The Pear for men's basketball next.
1. Please be true.
2. Who is the Pear?

anyone that knows anyone already knew everything in the OP was happening. doesnt mean they will get Saban.
and for the record they will go after Brooks before naming Verge.
the rest we already knew before scone went telling everyone cause he got mad.
and if saban says no they will 100% make Lane and Dan lanning say no before going any other direction.
