Has the national media's overwhelmingly positive response, and the deeper dive into his resume/comparison to Riley's swayed your opinion?

Not upset. Shocked. Never considered him. I fricking hate ND.

Don’t give 2 shits about ESPN or any of those babbling morons.

I think he’ll be good for LSU.

Only thing against Kelly for me is his age. Hes built and won everywhere hes gone. Hes made it to playoffs/title game at ND which isnt the easiest to do. Sure they are a big name blue blood but they dont take just any recruit that is good at football, you have to meet their criteria. He is thought of as a prick but if you watch his interviews you can see he is a no nonsense guy, who is very thoughful and calculated, knows a ton about the game, knows how to build a staff and organize a program. Its a win in my eyes.

I was always super pumped. Couldn’t believe some LSU fans were trashing it. It seems like most are starting to come around on it though. Lmao only been a couple hours.

Never will know.
I wanted Aranda or Rhule. If agents said no then this is good hire that beats the field of rest.

Napier
Campbell
Fickell
Campbell
Franklin
Cristobal
Tucker

I never considered BK was an option. Thought he was as untouchable as Saban.

But if it really proves to be true, this is the most excited I’ve been for a new coach at LSU ever.

I was hoping for Aranda or Fickell, but this is definitely a bigger fish.

Where'd you hear that? The guy who posted it here and said Marcus Freeman told him that?

Most of the ND boards I’ve read seem pretty happy to be getting Fickell or Freeman. “Relieved,” one might say

I was not happy. Then I looked at his record and what academic restrictions he had a ND.

Less risky than Napier, Riley or Aranda.

Yeah. I am reading that as well.

I'll always remember BK as they guy who could run a good program but never had enough to win the big games. He beat the teams he was supposed to and rarely won the big games. He's going to find it hard in the SEC when every week it is a big game. I think he is going to fail there, just my opinion. Time will tell.

I didn't think Riley or BK were realistic options until Mel Tucker got his mega contract.

I was secretly hoping for Fickell with Aranda as a great fall back option. I still would have assumed BK was off limits because of his association with ND and that part of the country

Kelly might not work out. But this (and what USC just did with Riley) is what a properly run search looks like. Even if it fails you respect the process and the hire.

I'm open to the idea.

Thank God we didn't entirely get stuck with our dick in our hands.

This was almost very very bad.

I remember when the national media overwhelmingly praised Nebraska when they hired Mike Riley too

Has no idea he was in the cards.

I wanted aranda or fickell

2 Rhule

3 Riley or stoops

Then the rest

prefer a defensive coach and then a offensive line type hard nose coach.

This guy's is a home run higher crazy we are getting him. We have needed respectability and a cerebral type HC for over 10 years. And now we have it. Most well rounded and thoughtful hard nose coach we have had in almost 20 years since Saban left

I wanted Aranda. I think Dave's going to be a monster. So, I was a little down with Kelly. However, apart from Aranda and maybe Rhule, I like Kelly better than the rest of the people talked about on here. I like this option better than Riley.

So, now I'm waiting to see how this plays out. He's going to be more of a manager, and he seems to be as good as you'll get in that regard. I think his OC hire is going to be telling. Is he going to open it up? Or is he going to go Les Miles on us? I'm confident that he'll put a solid defense on the field. I'm not too worried about that, but I'm not sold on his recruiting. I think Notre Dame has such a large fan base that he can fill a team pretty easily, but if he puts together the right team of recruiters it could work (especially if he can bring us some of those big Midwestern offensive linemen). So, let's see how this plays out. I have an open mind for now. I'm not overjoyed, but I'm not feeling particularly negative either.

I will say this though... It is pretty brutal that we walked in and snatched Notre Dame's coach. That school has MONEY. I feel good about that.
