re: If Orgeron goes 6-2/7-1 and LSU passes on him, he will head coach where?

Orgeron will not be the head coach in 2017 even if he wins the year out.
there is ZERO chance we let a coach walk after making the playoff.
you dont know shite.

My first guess would be Houston. Perfect school for him to prove himself at, imo.

What the hell did I say was negative? I personally believe we can win out more than most on this board.

god damn the negativity on this board is just insane. thank god most of you dont represent actual LSU fans.
I don't think the 'no O' guys are being negative at all. That's an emotional response.
We are thinking about this as a business decision. The best coach available needs to be hired, that is always the goal of a coaching search for any school.
Its hard for us to fathom that O is the best hire...being that 6 weeks ago, he wasn't even a topic of conversation.
We love LSU just as much as you do, and it's very important to get this right. That's why people argue this point so religiously, but it's not because of negativity.

Dude, its not his team. Its not his staff. Its not his recruits. Hes just doing what everyone knew could be done, and what Miles promised, but refused to do
It just proves that many other coaches could have done what Miles did, even better. But to suggest that O could ever get LSU to this level, and maintain it, is ludicrous. Hes never shown it
Hes Larry Coker, at this point.

he's Larry Coker at this point
Except coker took over a successful team and just kept it successful for 2 years, and he couldn't recruit worth a lick
O would be taking an unsuccessful but talented team and coaching up the talent to win games.

He went 6-2 at USC and nobody wanted him. I doubt they would this time either. The guy is not in demand by anyone. Yet some Tiger fans are falling all over themselves to give him one of the top jobs in the nation. LSU is too elite a job to give to a guy that literally nobody else wants.

Who wanted Les Miles besides y'all?
Les was getting looks from decent P5 teams besides LSU (and was already a successful permanent HC of one)

I had the chance to take a mid teir job last year and didn't. He wants to be in Louisiana. If he doesn't get the HC job I bet he campaigns to keep his dl job.
Eta: McNeese isn't mid teir

thats why i made my other thread, to ask/show how the admin would handle him running the table and still trying to find another coach... He cannot get the job.

this is actually one of my biggest concerns about O
how did he not parlay his success at USC into a better job?
coaching circles are small, they all know each other, especially a guy that has been around as long as O, so this just leads me to believe that people more in the know than all of us

I don't get the Aranda talk. What makes you think he'd be a good HC? He could be a defensive savant and still run a program into ground as HC.

no other big school in their right minds is going to hire him to be their HC

GeauxBayouBengals- He went 6-2 at USC and nobody wanted him

Hester Carries- would admit that if he doesnt he's at best going to a mid-major
quote:[/quote]
atltiger6487- nobody hired him after he went 6-2 as interim at USC.
quote:
Freauxzen- He'll be a position coach somewhere else at best.
quote:
mrbroker- I dont think anyone north of coonass land wants him as a HC. There is a reason USc did not offer him the job.
And others, first off - even if for some reason you hate Coach O, it is ridiculous to think that if he goes 7-1 this year after going 6-2 at USC he will not draw attention from other P5 programs. Somebody would probably be willing to take a chance on a guy who has coached on 4 national championship teams and coached under people like Ken Hatfield, Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll.
Secondly - to make the asinine statement that USC didn't want him after he went 6-2 is also ridiculous. The only person who didn't want O was Pat Haden who is no longer employed by USC. Lynn Swann is now the AD. https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/display.aspx?sp=66521306&s=2&p=66514171#66521306

then let Lynn Swann hire him at USC after they fire the guy they have now.. I bet Swann is dumb enough to hire him.. he will have one good year then it will fall after that..

Just who we need. A coach that players quit on.
