Bill O Brien is out at this point and they basically told Jamey Chadwell to frick off because he wanted to bring his entire staff with him.

Key is a GT guy and did a good job as interim. The players and boosters love him. Tech wants to keep him on the staff in some capacity. He would be a low risk hire but there’s always a stigma associated with promoting the interim that you got turned down from better candidates.

Fritz is obviously the other finalist. The fake news AJC reported it was a done deal but there’s more to it than that. My sauce says Tulane is negotiating with Fritz, not sure exact terms but hearing $4 million annually which would put him in the top of the conference.

My sauces are confident Fritz is staying. Says AJC beat writers should be thrown in Guantanamo

Didn't realize Tulane football generated enough revenue for $4M a year.

They don’t we just have some extremely wealthy contributors like Gayle Benson, the Glazer family (owners of the Tampa Bay Bucs) etc.

I can’t believe supposedly professional athletic administrators still get caught up in the emotions of a feel-good interim hire.

It almost never works. Like 99-100 failures.

Key did a good job on the field this year. I don't know how he is on the recruiting trail.

Not exactly true, just the coordinators.

BOB turned down Tech's offer as he felt it was too low.

Is this why the Glazers want to sell Man U?

Dabo is the only one I can think of that worked out unless you want to count Coach O.

Coach O got them a title and never had a losing season. That's a win every way you slice it.

O'Leary was an interim hire.

And I seriously doubt Batts is being emotional. He just came from Bama, a school known for its systematic, machine-like approach to athletics. We aren't overflowing with cash and Key has performed under horrible circumstances.

No offense to Tulane at all, because we're not exactly a powerhouse, but most fans would prefer Key as an unknown with a large potential upside to a coach with Fritz's record at Tulane.
