"Notre Dame: FootballScoop is hearing that an assistant coach in the SEC was asking coaches last night if they thought he should go with Tommy Tuberville to Notre Dame if Tubs got the head coaching job in South Bend. This makes us wonder if Tuberville has his agent, Jimmy Sexton, in contact with Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick. Our source tell us Tubs has several coaches already in mind for his next job, a plan that could very well include Texas running backs coach Major Applewhite as his offensive coordinator. We hear Tuberville was very complimentary of Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson in a radio interview yesterday, and thought Notre Dame might be wise to go after Johnson. You wouldn’t think the former Auburn head coach would make those comments if he was very interested in the Notre Dame job….or is Tubs playing the cards just right?"

what would getting it "right" entail? Getting Stoops, Urban or Saban?

It should probably be noted that ESPN is not reporting it. It's coming from a writer with IrishCentral.com (an Irish based website?).

Doesn't seem legit to me.

Go for broke w/ those names mentioned...unless they all turned them down without publicly becoming "candidates".

Kelly is too much of an unknown to me. His offenses are great but so were Weis'.

I would be surprised if ND rolls the dice with Kelly. given their failures in hiring lately, he seems to be a roll of the dice to me as well.

Shouldnt ND be tired of "rolling the dice" and just man up and get a superstar?
